We had the good fortune of connecting with Kennedy and Joey Bailey from Happy Sappy Films and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kennedy and Joey, how do you think about risk?
I love this question! Joey and I’s life has so far consisted of many risks, many which have paid off time and time again. I think most people think of taking risks as a big fear and anxiety. Although taking risks can be a little scary… not taking that risk is even scarier. Life is all about risks and sitting back and doing nothing and not taking that risk that is sitting on your heart is a risk in itself.

We’ve had many risks throughout our personal and professional life. Starting our own business was a risk! Going full-time was a huge risk, quitting our full-time jobs was a risk, traveling full-time was a risk, quitting college to be a full time entrepreneur was a risk, getting married young was a risk but every single one has been Gods Path for us and each one has been so full-filing and well beyond worth all the risks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Such a great question! We have been interviewed twice now with your brand and we love all the new questions every-time 🙂

We are most proud of the successful brand we’ve built! We started from scratch with no videography or media background. We watched hours upon hours of youtube videos and we are 100% self taught. When first starting there wasn’t anyone in our area to mentor from or learn from so we had to take the initiative and inspire + learn ourselves. This year we went to places we could have only dreamed our work would take us to.. Turks and Caicos islands, Mexico, and all over stateside. Next year 2023 is our complete dream year and everything we have worked for, for the last few years has finally came true. We are filming weddings in Ireland, Paris, England, Italy, Mexico, Greece, Disney World, California, Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah. These are all clients that found us online and book us for their real weddings not styled elopements, workshops, or any styled work. These are soley just dream destination inquires from our real clients.
We are shooting at 3 of our dream venues stateside in 2023 which doesn’t even seem real because we never knew if we would ever even shoot their… alone in all of our dream venues + destinations all in one single year. We want to say this all to inspire anyone who ever doubts their abilities to make their dreams happen!

What sets us apart from others is the way we treat all of our couples like our close friends and the one of a kind film we create for them. We start building our clients stories as soon as they inquire with us. We jump on a zoom call and hear their love story and visions a whole year before their wedding date. We check in with multiple meetings and planning details to make sure the day goes absolutely perfect upon arrival.

Pursuing your dreams is never easy! It takes determination, consistency and a ton of positivity + prayers along the way but its SOO worth it. We over came all of our challenges together as we grew, and kept learning along the way. Challenges will always comes along no matter how far you are in your business and or how much it grows but it’s about using the tools you’ve learned on how to cope with those challenges and push back through them is where the success comes.

One thing we are most excited about is a couple that booked us for their ceremony in Dublin Ireland and their reception on the Amalfi Coast In Italy. Its our absolute dream wedding and we’ve been looking forward to it all year now and we can’t wait to showcase it!

What we would love to tell the world about our brand + Story is anything is possible and no dream is too small! Put your dreams on paper and tape them to your office wall and read them everyday + manifest the lifestyle you dream of.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If our best friends were visting the area we would take them to Chicago which is the closest biggest city near us and where we work all of our “local” weddings. we would take them to The X pot (also known as shabu shabu) Its an asian fusion steakhouse that we go to for special occasions and its chef’s kiss! We would get drinks at Whiskey Girl Tavern they have literally any drink and a lot of world known cocktails that aren’t made normally in America. We would definitely want them to see the Chicago shoreline as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are both really big on finding inspiration from books! We gain a lot of motivation from incredible authors perspectives and personal authors success stories. A few of our favorite books are building a story brand, big magic, the ruthless elimination of hurry, how will you imagine your life, and do it afraid are a few of our personal favorites. A second thing for us is surrounding ourselves with people who are successful and doing more than us. We feel like the people around us and are close industry friends inspire us as well. We’re really big on the people you surround yourself around is vital in your motivation, work ethic and overall energy.
