We had the good fortune of connecting with Dionna Yang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dionna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I decided to start my own business within the beauty industry because I was born an artist and this industry gives me the opportunity to not only display my artistic abilities and creativity but to also deliver something to the public that’s original custom and rare.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a custom wig stylist, the word custom sets the tone for me and my business. I don’t just make wigs, I allow for my clients to send in their custom measurements, color requirements, length requirements, and texture requirements for the best fit. Each wig is made to order, however I do have pre-made options available. I am excited to be introducing medical wigs, toppers and male toppers to my business, being able to serve everyone is something I am proud of. Getting my business where it is now wasn’t easy, it took time, money and so much patience. Staying persistent and knowing that I had a great idea is what keep my light going, it’s easy to give up but that wasn’t my goal. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned throughout this whole ordeal is to trust myself and abilities, to expect some failures and that everyone might not be in your corner but that’s life. My mission is to create a brand that serves everyone, to give everyone their confidence back when it comes down to hair loss.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Scottsdale! For breakfast you’d probably catch me at the snooze or hash kitchen, they have some of the best breakfast in the city in my opinion. After a good meal the Scottsdale fashion square would be next, it’s the best mall in Phoenix and it offers pretty much every shop you can think of. Tempe being the next best place to eat, shop or hike with A mountain (yes that’s the name) having the best view from the top. If you’re looking for a nacation (nature views) I would definitely say Sedona, between the red rock mountains and cabin rentals it’s extremely relaxing and romantic. Fossil creek falls is also a great find, very relaxing and cool once you go up to the falls it’s breathtaking.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give credit to the Wigslayers group. Between the helpful tips and recommendations, I’ve learned so much!
