Meet The Cupidos | Blogger – Family Hikes

We had the good fortune of connecting with The Cupidos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cupidos, what are you inspired by?
As the Cupidos, we are inspired by many things, with nature being one of those items. We appreciate the beauty that this world has to offer by going on adventures with our little family, whether that’s through camping, hiking or floating down a river.
Because of our inspiration, our goal is to teach our 15 month old boy George to love the outdoors and nature just like we do, and to appreciate Gods creation. As a couple, we believe that our passions and hobbies shouldn’t come to a stop just because we had a baby but instead we wanted to involve him in all our adventures together.
Within his 15 months, he has already gone on over 20+ hikes and has developed into a mini explorer with mountains and trees being one of his favorite things to see. When we saw how much love George had for the outdoors and how each person that encountered us along the way on our adventures lit up when they saw him, we wanted to share some adventure tips with other familites. One thing that we do is post hikes on a weekly basis rating the difficutly of the hike while providing some advice and tips for trails.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We wouldn’t be here today without our little guy, George. The fact that he just easily embraced all our hiking and adventures instantly, and by instantly we mean at 3 weeks old when he went on his first hike, makes our work that much easier.
Our challenges definitely stem from balancing our professional work life with our creative life. Because we both work full time jobs and have a busy kid, we sometimes find ourselves exhausted by the end of the day and just want to take a break from the adventures. As this may be a challenge, we also want to ensure and communicate to families, that you don’t always need to go on advenutures. Its okay to take a break here and there, because though being parents is rewarding, its not an easy job. I addition, since we live in Alberta, the Rocky Mountains can get fairly cold which restrain us from any activity especially with our kid.
Lessons we learned along the way is to be patient and to embrace what life has to offer. There may be days where our little one just isn’t up for an adventure and we need to be okay with that. Someone once told us that we need to remember that babies have bad days too and that really stuck with us.
One thing, I think that we would like the world to know about our story is that we are just an ordinary couple and what we do is completely doable for any family with a passion for adventures. With social media, its really easy to compare our lives with others and especially with those families that are blessed to go on so many trips, embark on so many pricey adventures etc. So we thought it would be a good idea, to give families in our area and in general some low cost familiy acitivies, with most being free. We don’t want our platform to be one where people compare their life to us, but a platform where they are able to embrace what the world has to offer and a way to spend more time with their family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would take them to the Rocky Mountains, of course !
Our itinerary would include a hike every second day, two in Kananaskis and one in the Canmore Area. If visiting in the winter, we would take them to either Sunshine Village or Lake Louise for skiing/snowboarding and of course all the great restaurants in banff and canmore.
Day 1 – Hike in Kananaskis
Day 2- Hike in Kananaskis with a spa at Kananaskis Nordic Spa
Day 3- Explore Canmore (Winter: Go on a tour with Snowy Owl Dog Sled )
Day 4 – Hike to a lake
Day 5 – Explore Banff Downtown
Day 6- Ski/Snowboard at Lake Louise or Banff Sunshine (if in the winter) or Gondola Ride at Sunshine in the summer
Day 7- Hike at Lake Louise and see the Chateau

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our family and friends have been the biggest support for us. Since being parents, it was very evident how quickly you lose some people in your life because they just assume you aren’t able to hangout or go on adventures because you have a kid. Thankfully our family and our closest friends don’t see a limit at all, and are always willing to go on an adventure or just hangout with us – we believe that is also so important for anyones mental health, especially as new parents.
An organization that we represent as a family is called Kids Who Explore. They target a community of explorers who value spending time in the outdoors and celebrate their diversity through their unique adventures across the globe. Their goal is to inspire families to connect with nature, and each other. Something that we are passionate about.
