We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Wimpsett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I spent several years working in the corporate world as the Marketing Manager for a Regional Financial Institution. While in this role, I became actively involved in our local Chamber of Commerce and joined our local Main Street Program’s Board of Directors. I saw the struggles our local Small Business Owners faced when it came to promoting their storefronts, products, and services. I also saw predatory “Marketing Agencies” approaching these small business owners and selling them products and services that they did not need – at a price they could not afford. I wanted to help these small business owners – who I also considered to be my friends. They needed someone they could trust to recommend services that would actually increase their sales – and at prices they could afford. The Social Boutique – Marketing Agency was born!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Before launching my own digital marketing agency, I was previously employed at two other marketing agencies as I completed my Internships for College. I was able to witness how two very different agencies operated. Some things I loved, and other things – I didn’t agree with. As a data nerd – I’ve always been obsessed with numbers and the Return on Investment for clients. The numbers I was seeing at the agencies I worked for didn’t add up to a positive ROI for the clients – and I wanted more for those clients. When launching my Agency I knew I would only implement best practices, never take the easy way out, and provide services that actually drive results for my clients. If a strategy for a client isn’t working – we develop a new strategy. We never become stagnant with our strategies – and we are constantly researching new campaign ideas and trends for our clients. I’ve learned that having a template-based marketing campaign for clients is definitely much easier on the Admin side – which is likely why many Agencies operate this way; and developing personalized campaigns requires many more hours and harder work. Our team is dedicated to putting in the hard work so our clients achieve the highest results possible. Each campaign is customized to the client – so no two clients (even in the same industry) have the same strategy. We want the world to know that not all Marketing Agencies are out to get your money and provide low-quality work; our clients mean the world to our team and we are personally invested in their success each and every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Social Boutique – Marketing Agency invites you to visit us! Let’s start the day with a cup of coffee from our favorite local coffee shop – Fresh Coffee & Pastries located in downtown Bardstown, Kentucky. Elizabeth’s favorite drink is their Smore’s Latte with Oat Milk, while Erin prefers an Iced Mocha. You’ll find the kindest Barista’s behind the counter – and owner Michele back in the kitchen preparing a fresh lunch for the day.
Next – let’s head down the road to The Candle Barn Company – a local, female-owned and operated Candle Company in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Here we can schedule a custom pour with owner Stefanie, and tour the candle-making facility!
After crafting our hand-poured soy blend candles – let’s head to On the Go Foods in Bardstown, Kentucky for a delicious lunch! On-The-GO Foods is a retail and catering program offered by the Guthrie Opportunity Center (GO Center), a non-profit organization serving people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the Nelson County, KY community. Our mission is to enhance their lives and the lives of the families who love them. Here we will have a cup of delicious fresh prepared soup!
When in Bourbon Country – you must do as the Kentuckians do – so we will go on a personalized tour with Kentucky Bourbon Guide – Bob White to a few of our favorite Distilleries!
Bob is a wealth of knowledge, so we will know everything there is to know about Bourbon before we even step foot in a Distillery. Our favorite local distilleries to visit? Makers Mark in Loretto, Kentucky is the most beautiful spot – especially during the Winter Months. Bardstown Bourbon Company provides a level of elegance one would not typically expect in a Distillery – and has a wonderful restaurant (Bottle and Bond) for dinner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The inspiration for starting The Social Boutique – Marketing Agency lies in the hearts of small business owners across the globe. I’ve always been an ambassador for the #ShopLocal and #ShopSmall movement – but after personally working with and getting to know small business owners personally – my heart grew even more for these entrepreneurs. It takes a lot to step out on your own – and there’s no possible way that one person can know everything about owning and operating a business. I believe in lifting others up in areas they need assistance, providing resources, training, and services to equip them with what they need to be the best version of themselves and their business.
