We had the good fortune of connecting with greyXeyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi grey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
That I wanted to make music I love and plan things out in a business like manner in order to become a success. I pretty much do greyXeyes for fun nowadays but I was well aware that it might take 5-10 years to get fully off the ground. I believe I’m approaching my 5th year as greyXeyes now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It was not easy to get to the success I have today. In fact, it was very challenging throughout. There have been a lot of delays and times where I wanted to give up, but I kept on pushing forward after taking a break. What separates me from the rest is that I’ve had over 10 years in the music industry. I know what it’s like to eat dirt for long periods of time and not make a dime off what I do. I’m always into getting better and I’m a super creative artist. I listen to almost every genre imaginable, so I’m able to cultivate all types of music into my own songs to make it my very own thing. I’m good at making catchy hooks on the spot without having to write lyrics too.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m mainly into visiting forest like areas. Mount Diablo in Walnut Creek is a really beautiful spot, and I like to eat at fancier restaurants by the waterfront in places like Marin. I also enjoy going to different concerts at local venues in the city that consist of anywhere from indie music all the way to hardcore and metal. Another thing I like to do is go to view points and the other several various beaches that are a part of where I live.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Cage Riot Music Group who’s recently signed me to be a part of their distribution/label services. I’d also like to shout out my early proucers, Geddy Franco, and Kaydence Cooley, for helping produce my first songs to reach a big audience.
