Meet Fabiola Bedoya | Founder Tucson Creative Comadres & Digital Marketer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fabiola Bedoya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fabiola, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Since I was young I always knew I wanted to start my own ‘thing’. I would fill notebooks with designs of clothing and accessories and even create logos for them. So, I’ve always known I was a creative at heart, I have tried to test out different businesses throughout the years from decorating phone cases to trying out YouTube to most recently selling my photography on prints and cards. Overall, though I enjoyed them I always loved helping others especially other creatives by connecting with them and with others like them. This current business, Tucson Creative Comadres is a culmination of helping creatives but honing into my culture by focusing in on Latinx women.

What should our readers know about your business?
Tucson Creative Comadres is all about networking with like minded creative Latinx women. We’re different from other networking groups because our shared values and experiences as Latinx women connects us, plus adding on a layer of being creatives (makers, artists, small business owners) keeps us inspired, connected to our own goals by being able to mentor each other, build partnerships and beyond.
Starting the networking group was a culmination of personal pain points of things I couldn’t find that I needed, so little by little I started acquiring skills, researching and finally tested this idea out. There’s so many lessons I learned, but probably the most prominent was to focus on what skills you already possess. There are things that come naturally to you and instead of always feeling less than superior, focus on what you’re already an expert on.
My personal journey to the place I now am mentally, emotionally and physically wasn’t with out lots of traumatic occurrences, lots of tears, lots of mistakes, but it was how I reacted those bad things that made the biggest difference. I always focused on my goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Tucson is full of many diverse communities and locations. If I had someone coming for a week I would love to introduce them to the history of how Tucson got started. Therefore, I would pick Mission Garden, San Xavier Mission, and Mt. Lemmon to start. It would then be followed by a food tour, coffee tour and art tour that spans from South Tucson to central to North, West and East.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All my Comadres near and far! Pero, Tanna Cole, Maria Kaae, Angie aka Candidsol and Erica for being the best comadres a girl could have.
