Meet Miyanna Coleman | Daytime cyber adviser and nighttime model/actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miyanna Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miyanna, what do you attribute your success to?
I think success behind my brand – as a personal brand. Is inspire others without changing who they are. That they can be themselves and still achieve their dreams. That by being different, doesn’t change their value or worth. But instead I hope to use my difference to inspire others to appreciate their differences. Whether it be physical. Emotional. Mental.
Success shouldn’t depend size of your clothes, your credit score, your highest level of education, culture, or marital status. Striving to prove these things is what contributes to my success behind my personal brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Becoming a model and an actor was not easy at all! It took lots of time, lots rejections, not listening to other peoples doubts. Lessons I’ve learned along the way are to be your own best advocate in whatever you’re pursuing or passionate about. About half the time people that try to tell you “can’t” do something it’s cause they weren’t able to achieve it themselves.
Be relentless and persistent. It will pay off. Again, be patient. Rarely anyone becomes a model overnight or gets an acting gig right away. It can takes months and it can take years.
Network! Network! I’ve had a lot of people ask me how do you find or get gigs all the time. It’s cause I network with other creatives. Whether it’s virtual by social media or sometimes in person somewhere. More like minded people you meet the more you’ll find opportunities come up. And learn from eachother.
Comparison is truly the thief of joy!
It’s a nasty habit. And I can’t tell you how many times I used to do this in the beginning my modeling career. And it was horrible. One moment I would feel like I achieved something, look at someone else’s career. And then resentful hahah. So please know everyone is on their own journey and own battles. No one is perfect.
With that being said. Another lesson I’ve learned is to expect yourself to make mistakes and give yourself room to grow from those. That’s how models gain their experience and actors get better.
One message I would want the world to know about me is that life is what you make it. So focus on what you have and get to do. Don’t focus so much on what you want or don’t have. If you focus on things you have (talents, skills, hobbies)
And share those with the world. Chances are you’re going to inspire more things that you want to come your way. I really think everything we go through in life is a matter of perspective and hard work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question. I have many friends that would love to visit my area. Ok so first of all my best friend loves to go out but is also a homebody haha. So I know for sure —I would stock up on her favorite food and have mud masks and her favorite beer when she gets here for those nights she may want to stay in.
But ok I would definitely take her hiking first. She loves hiking like me.
Also we like breakfast food. So chances are I would take her to the best breakfast spots. Also I would definitely plan music concerts! Cause that definitely our thing! I would take her to the zoo and cosmic bowling 🎳.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The truth is there are so many faces that deserve recognition. I could write a complete five book saga of people who I think deserve credit or recognition in my success! So I dedication this Shout Out article to every single one of them. To the women who have supported me while I going through divorce with my children. Bringing dinners and babysitting. To the new and old friends that have continued to encourage me to continue putting myself out there for the world in pursuing my dreams, when I have been scared or felt discouraged. They kept me going, thank you! To my work family that has continued to be supportive and transparent with me. Given me wise advise and made time for me when I needed guidance – I appreciate them..
To my family – my children that are the flame behind my never ending endeavors. I thank them. Their support and love carries me through everything. For that, I dedicate this shout out to my children. To the artists, photographers, models, and actors that I’ve crossed paths with – i dedicate this shout out to them as well. I see how hard they work everyday to have their art appreciated! Valued and celebrated by the world and other colleagues! I praise these artists. They inspire me so much.
