We had the good fortune of connecting with Santiago Salazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Santiago, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Hiring mentors and not being afraid to ask for help! Having someone in your corner who has done what you are trying to do, who has made the mistakes and who has years of experience can save you a lot of time and headaches. I don’t think my business would be anything close to what it is now if I hadn’t hired my mentors when I first started – and I don’t think I’ll ever NOT have a mentor again.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Well, I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Owner of Sculpted by Santi. I have two active sides of the business today. One side being my In Person 1-on-1 Training for Phoenix locals and the other side is an online based program through my Sculpted by Santi mobile fitness app.

I have specialized my online program to help women over 30 restore their metabolism and 2x their energy to finally make fat loss seamless and sustainable without restrictive dieting and only 2 hours in the gym a week using my 3 Step Metabolic Reboot System.

Like most trainers, I started out strictly meeting with in person clients. After a few years, my passion for helping others grew more and more and I knew I wanted to find a better way to help as many people as I could. With the entire world transitioning online I figured, “why not me?”, and so was born my online program.

With inefficient systems and not much knowledge around online training, I knew I needed guidance. And I stumbled upon the best guidance I could find. Entrepreneurship is not always a breeze – but having support in your corner has been the best thing for me so far on this journey!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we are looking to celebrate – we’re heading to Buck & Rider. That is definitely one of my favorite spots to eat in the city.

To get active and catch some sun – we’re hitting 1 of the 100’s of awesome hiking trails here and getting some amazing views while we’re at it.

For a night of fun im looking to see which DJ will be playing at Sunbar in Tempe! Or what shows are happening around the city.

I love to try and find local markets and events going on and it seems that there is something to check out every weekend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Man, I have so much support in my life, I am truly blessed. Both my mom (Tracey) and my dad (Randy) have always shown me support with my vision. They really believe in me and that has always meant the world to me and keeps me motivated. My grandma has also been a HUGE support for me while getting started – I really have the best family. As far as mentorships go, Jordan and Erin Dugger have created the most amazing mentorship program that I could have found. Their entire team at IFCA offers every ounce of support I could wish for.
