We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah McKernan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, how do you think about risk?
Risk has always been driving factor for my career in general. I knew I wasn’t going to be the kind of business woman that was afraid to take risks even if I wasn’t sure how the outcome would be. Having no fear when it comes to taking career related risks has given me the ability to start new businesses & take on new business ventures in full force. My latest risk was diving into design & retail full force. I have a great career working for a company designing their vacation rental estates, but I’ve always wanted to have something on my own in addition to working a career I love. In February my business Solstizio will be opening a full e-commerce website Solstizio Home. We have hand selected curated pieces from large furnishings to smaller home decor to fit any budget for our clients. Not only are you able to purchase all these items on our website, but we have someone who can help you every step of the way. You have the ability to add a design package and work with one of our Senior or Junior Interior designers. Although this will be by far one of the biggest risks I’ve taken, I’m excited for us to grow into something even better than before.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve done a lot of this in my career life to date from working as a designer for a home builder to now becoming a designer for a firm I own. In 2018 I started flipping houses and from there started designing for private clients. Today I am currently a Senior Interior Designer for Resort Style Vacation homes, a company that changes the way we see vacation rentals, this position has really given me the ability to become the best designer I can, I have had the pleasure to design houses in all different regions with a variety of styles. In addition to that I own Solstizio Studios & Solstizio Home. Solstizio is a one stop shop for all your design needs. Not only have we been working to create a one of a kind online shopping experience for our clients, but we wanted to make sure we had something to fit everyones budget. From full home interior and remodel design to one room here or there, we can offer something for everyone. The site launches February 15th, 2023 and we will be hosting a Launch event in March. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since scottsdale feels like my second home, I would take them to all my favorite spots. Depending on the time of the year, we could drive out to four peaks road and rent dune buggies for the day, this is by far one of my favorite activities in the area, not only do you get to see the beautiful areas surrounding scottsdale but you have the chance to explore on your own, at your own pace. After a long day in the sun I would typically take a dip in one of my favorite pools in the area, usually we go to hotel valley ho, or another local hotel pool I could truly live in the blazing sun 24/7 so you’ll catch me pool side most of the time. On a calmer night you’ll see me at the bar in Sumo Maya, enjoying the best fire roasted edamame around. If you go on a weekend night you get the full DJ experience. I also really enjoy Toca Madera because they usually have nighttime entertainment (fire breathers and such) & in the warm weather they open up the roof. I think the biggest reason I love these places is because the design in each of these restaurants are killer and they create such a unique experience when you walk through the door.
Sundays are for Hash Kitchen brunch, they have a killer menu & upbeat live music.
By far one of my favorite late afternoon activities is heading out towards the Frank Lloyd Wright property, its such a really cool experience to see the one of a kind architecture that Frank Lloyd Wright created.
I bring a lot of my friends to scottsdale so I always keep a running list of my favorite places in my phone, so Ill never forget the amazing experiences I have in the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most important people in my life when it comes to success is my family. Although sometimes my ventures are risky, they never fall short of supporting me very step of the way. I learned from my parents that working hard is going to get me exactly where I wanted in life, so I did just that. They gave me the morals and drive to become the business woman I am today and I will be forever grateful for that. Not only are they supportive but my mom has worked on projects & helped me get each of my businesses going without ever any push back, she is always excited to help me build my career.
