We had the good fortune of connecting with Hope Lineberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hope, what is the most important factor behind your success?
PASSION. Being behind a camera really feels like fresh crisp air to me. I really feel deeply in love with the whole process of photography. From lens to SD card and into lightroom editing. Endless possibilities with so much depth & emotion, it creeps out of the picture. Everyday I wake up invested in myself and my brand, I’m extremally focused when It comes to my company. Passion really pushed me to get where I am now.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting Hint of Hope was quite the journey & learning how to use a camera was the first task. It took me about 3 months to understand how and what shudder speed, ISO & Aperture are. Once I kinda understand how they correlated together I really just started to take pictures of everything. At this point no one really knew who I was and I was horrified to offer services, but I did. My first client went so well I booked 7-10 clients which had me jumping off the table I was so excited! Half went so bad I realized I didn’t really know how to pose people, or really talk to people, or know how to dress them. I felt kind of like a fraud. I was seeing others work that looked so beyond mine. I had so many barriers when It came to taking pictures because I knew absolutely nothing. how could I charge? My pictures weren’t coming out great and my feedback wasn’t the greatest either. I was really bummed but this is all I’ve ever wanted to do so I kept trying until a camera felt so comfortable in my hands that I started noticing a huge change in my photography. I begun getting raving reviews from clients saying they loved my candid’s. It’s taken so much to get here, I’m still not all where I wanna be but I’m gonna keep waking up everyday and choosing this.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we are talking food you can never go wrong with Ja Ramen, Indian Twist & cheddars! Places In Tucson I love: Skate country, Reid park zoo, Desert Museum, the downtown old timey theaters & much more!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I found out pretty early It wasn’t a cheap hobby to be a photographer. Camera gear is thousands of dollars that’s not even including learning how to use it! I really wouldn’t be where I am today If my husband & mother hadn’t supported me at every turn. Both bought me cameras, equipment, invested time, played assistant, model, even cameraman. Endless hours being a test subject for me to prefect my craft. I’m incredibly proud of my family and the trust and faith they had in me, starting a small business is so much work. Both of you mean the world to me I don’t think you ever know how grateful I am that you always have my back.
