Meet Megan Watkins | SoCal Family Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Watkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
My family and my kids. Now having two little ones, and also gone through infant loss with one of my twins, it brings so much more meaning to photographing families. I love capturing all the small moments at a photo session, as well as the classic smiling photos. Time is too fleeting and life is too precious not to have photos of this time in your life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I had been a photographer for ten years now, straight out of college I started photographing families, engagements, parties, anything I could to gain experience. I’ve found my niche with families and it’s so incredibly special to capture this time in a family’s life. Parents will leave a session saying if they get one good photo, they will be happy, and most clients end up crying happy tears because they have a whole gallery of beautiful photos! That is the best feeling as an artist. I find beauty in the chaos of sessions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Huntington Beach, so we have to get tacos and margaritas by the beach. Going to breweries is also fun. We could take beautiful hikes in Laguna, rent a Duffy boat in the Huntington Harbor at sunset, and listen to live music at Old Crow in Pacific City.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband is my biggest supporter and cheerleader. He encourages me to take risks and put myself out there in my small business and be successful.
