We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Zelez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tammy, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of Tammy Zelez Photography brand is the feeling I can give to my clients. It can be very intimidating to be in front of the camera, especially if you are not used to being there. It doesn’t matter how old you are, either. My job is to bring that level of comfort that should be expected from my clients and then exceed that expectation. My motto is “come as a client, leave as a friend!” Every person that stands in front of my camera is important to me. I want them to know that during and after their session. The “lifer” photographer is who I aim to be! I want to know that I will forever photograph my clients because of the special relationship we build and I will continue to watch them grow in their success as well!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I absolutely love being a photographer! God has blessed me with this gift and I want to bless others with it. I want my clients to feel confident in front of my camera, have the ability to express themselves freely so I can bring their true personality through imagery. I want them to be able to smile back at the image they see and know how truly beautiful they are and embrace every part of themselves. Accept yourself first and that’s where success starts! I struggle with these aspects as well, which is why I am so passionate about each person I photograph. It is so important to love yourself and respect your story because it is unique to only you! I feel that is what makes me stand out!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my BFF were in town, we would definitely be hitting some local boutiques such as 85 Local in Peoria and Jesse Rose Collection in The Hive on 16th, downtown. We would have a flight of glitter bombed mimosas and brunch at Hash Kitchen and spend time out at Lake Pleasant!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success would not be possible if it weren’t for the support of my family, business partners, and client referrals who have become family! My husband, my children, and my extended family first. You Love my photography and of course you love me! You have shown up for me throughout this journey to keep me motivated and to remind me that I AM good at what I do! I love you all so much and thank you for all the support ALWAYS! My business coach, Carlyn, my business is continuing to grow because you have pushed me to realize that I CAN be successful! I am forever grateful that You are not only my coach but one of my closest friends! My Clients. Because of you, I am the photographer I have always wanted to be! You keep me creative and you love what I do and I know that because of the referrals who tell me! The biggest compliment to a business is referrals and I value that everyday!
