We had the good fortune of connecting with Cierra Sutherland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cierra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To make women feel beautiful. When you walk into a salon and you ask for a specific design sometimes they can’t do it. I love seeing my clients faces when they see the final design. I love what I do and how nails can affect and make someone day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I was a kid I used to draw they were okay never thought I could do something with it. I love the challenges my clients give me I love hand painted nail art, bling all that glam, I’m here for it.

The reason I started my nail career was because I hit first hit rock bottom. About three years ago I had a miscarriage and I was so depressed crying everyday, I didn’t want to get out of bed. I at that time have 3 kids and they needed me. I knew i needed something to do to distract myself from what happened. I saw a friend of mine post videos of her nail work. I thought hey why not I always wanted to do nails. My nana did nails. I would always see my nana doing nails and i would always say one day I’m going to become a nail tech. I was so nervous to start I would say what if Im not good enough. I looked at my kids and I knew I had to do and I also wanted to. I want to be able to tell my kids that I followed my dreams and just went for it. Even though I had to hit rock bottom I was able to get back up and get better for them. Honestly, nails saved me from depression. Once I started to see how good I was I loved every second of it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely take a trip down to California we would go visit the beach rent out a beach house . Take a day or two to go to Disneyland. I’m such a Disney girl. We love to eat out at King Taco they have the tacos and burritos

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband is my #1 supporter, my cheerleader. He has said so many times how talented I am and how I will go far in life. He pushes me and encourages me. He has been my rock through my journey. I would also have to say my parents, and family they have supported me through my nail journey always came over for a set when I first started out to help me improve. I am so glad I have such an amazing people who have supported me and love me.
