We had the good fortune of connecting with Heidi Bannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heidi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk.. I have never thought about my life choices as being risky. I feel that whatever happens, is meant to be. I have a tendency to say yes to the unknown, mostly because I take people at their word. I did take a chance a few years ago when Michelle Oppenheimer reached out to me about my art on Instagram, and that once-in-a-lifetime bolt of lightning really changed my life. She has become a most precious friend and ally.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
By trade, I’m a professional Ophthalmology Technician, again, by a lucky bolt of lightning just by being in the right place, with the right people, at the right time. It was a big challenge in that I didn’t have faith in myself to succeed, but others around me did, and with their support and guidance, I achieved a goal that could help support my family. Listen to your inner voice.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, my home. It is small, but warm and comfortable. Bright and filled with love and laughter. Then, to a local brewery. Hop Valley has a great variety of spirits and food. Let’s go to the coast, and do some deep sea fishing, or catch some local crabs off the pier at Winchester Bay!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My courageous and tenacious wife, Jennifer. She feels “meh” about art, but encourages me every step of the way. Michelle “Foxy” Oppenheimer. I can’t even tell you how connected our brains are, and we have never met in person. I would not consider myself an artist without her push. Lisa Livoni and Robert Wilson are wonderful champions for my cause as well.  Always encouraging me to try new techniques and mediums.
