Meet Andrea Lindsey | Group Home Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Lindsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’d like to share with you the number one reason I chose to start a human service career and group home. One of the main objectives of our group home is to accommodate people with mental or physical disabilities, or those dealing with substance abuse and need some level of assistance. The motivation is that I care and I am empathetic to the challenges individuals may face.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The largest challenge of my new career is the training that is required to operate the group home. Going through licensing, and finding a group home or facility to accommodate our potential residents, coming up with resources and finances, is a work in progress, all day, everyday. My most rewarding training was becoming a Peer Support Specialist. As a Peer Support specialist, I will be able to share my own lived experience of behavioral health recovery and utilize this experience to help the people we will serve and promote recovery-oriented environments.
My greatest lived experience began from birth. My mother a former cocaine substance abuser, gave birth to me while she was addicted. The stories she shared, the prayers she has prayed, and the successful life she now lives is proof that anyone can begin again. Zohar Care Center is here to assist in any way we can. We have several family members and friends that are struggling with addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and feelings of despair.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm. WE WOULD VISIT TEMPE, ARIZONA – You can’t go wrong with pizza. En route to my favorite pizza place, we would pass by Tempe Town Lake, which is a great tourist attraction. Venezia’s pizza is the closest taste to New York-style pizza in Arizona. Located in downtown Tempe, a college town.
As everyone knows I am into being fit. I would like to show them around PTBy Joe Studios, the best gym in the valley with all the exercise equipment imaginable.
Depending on the day of visiting guests’ arrival, I would take them to a youth fellowship at The LightHouse Arizona which is also held in Tempe, Az every first Saturday of the month.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I do consider it an honor to acknowledge Susan Y Lindsey, my mother (aka Pastor Lindsey). She is a courageous, sympathetic, loyal, and tough woman. She taught me to find beauty in everyone and everything. She has been my rock, my support, and my backbone during this opening process for the group home. She has my deepest gratitude for everything she does, both visible and invisible. We have EMTs, Parole Officers, and Community Leaders, that donate their time, clothing, and expertise. Thank you Joe for sponsoring the website and our email. www.Zoharcarecenter.com, admin@zoharcarecenter.com. Thank you for the opportunity to share and let your listeners know about this great opportunity that is available for them to help and share their expertise, time, and talents. We definitely are in need of a Licensed Psychiatrist, a RN, a Dietician, and Substance Abuse Therapists.
