My favorite quote is by the poet Mary Oliver. It’s from her poem “Blackwater Woods:” To live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go. Read more>>
One of my favorite quotes is from permaculturist Geoff Lawton: “All the world’s problems can be solved in a garden.” Many permaculture practitioners will smile at this quote but often don’t genuinely believe that all the world’s problems CAN be solved in a garden. We do. We think that if you think about the ills of the present-day world, they include problems such as war, famine, hunger, disease, climate change, and corruption. There are also internal personal ills, such as stress, scarcity, anxiety, depression, and anger. Read more>>
You’ll often hear us tell people, “You are the Magic that heals you. ” We love that line because we have learned it to be true in our own lives and have witnessed it in the lives of others. I loved this quote from this article: Free Will Versus Divine Will (the-guided-meditation-site.com) “Things always happen for a reason, and you have agreed to experience this from a soul level. Often there are other factors at play, such as karma and cause and effect.” ‘Things happen for a reason’ whether it’s good or bad, things happen to align us on our correct path. When you are going through trauma, with going within and releasing it and healing it, it brings us closer to our soul rather than ego.. Read more>>
“Mystery is the real condition in which we live, not certainty.” –Barry Lopez This quote inspires me to take risks in my writing life. That could mean writing a poem or essay that might upset readers, or sharing my work in a way that’s outside of my comfort zone. I’m cautious by nature, cautious to the point of constantly imagining worst-case scenarios. Barry Lopez’s quote lets me exchange fear with a reverence for the unknown. Read more>>
