We had the good fortune of connecting with Lion cider and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lion, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I express myself through illustration and beatboxing. I’m thrilled by the reactions from those who view my work. I strive daily in my creations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I express myself in a freestyle manner. That’s because I value free ideas. What I want to express is a feeling that makes people smile. I draw illustrations every day. I also frequently record beatboxing. Continuing this is what I’m most proud of.
To get to where I am today, I expressed myself every day. That trained me and made me stronger. I suffer from mental illness. I fought the illness and continued expressing myself.
The lesson I’ve learned so far is to draw with enjoyment. If I enjoy it, the people who see my expressions will also enjoy it.
I want everyone to know to enjoy life more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I want visitors to Japan to eat ramen. Japan has regional varieties of ramen. Visit areas with lots of ramen shops and enjoy eating ramen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my university professor. My professor taught me to draw illustrations with enjoyment. Draw honestly, and your individuality will naturally emerge from there. Relax like when you’re drinking coffee. By drawing illustrations with enjoyment, they become illustrations that are uniquely yours. I want people who lack the will to live to know my illustrations and beatboxing, and to give them energy. I want to express fun illustrations and beatboxing.
