Meet Abel Acedo | Owner and Operator of Double A Autoglass LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Abel Acedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was working as a sub-contractor for a company for 8 years, a company that did not appreciate its employees. A company that did not allow you to take any time off, and when the time was being taken off, they would punish you by not providing you with any work when you came back from your vacation. When I first started working with the company, I was making anywhere from $120-$230 per week, I first started as the helper of a sub-contractor and worked my way up to a sub-contractor. I pushed myself to grow and grow because I needed more money to make ends meet at home, even as a sub-contractor I wasn’t making enough money because I was not getting enough work from the company that I worked for. I began to have friendships with the company’s customers who would ask for my personal phone number to call me instead of calling the company I worked for, the next time they needed a glass replaced. I began to get ideas, customers would tell me I should start my own business, and my wife would tell me I needed to spread my wings. My wife was tired of the company I worked for, and she didn’t even work there. So, I did! It was the scariest thing in the world. But I did it, and I don’t regret any of it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I like to separate myself from other technicians who don’t appreciate their quality work and effort, I believe you should give the work effort, you would want to receive. I think about quality work, before quantity work. I like to build relationships with my customers. I want them to know their vehicle is in good hands, I will treat my customer’s vehicle as if it were mine. Throughout the years I have learned about new techniques to make my installs precise. I have learned about new tools to help my replacement be easier and cleaner. I listened to a lot of advice from other Autoglass technicians, and most importantly I have learned from my errors.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them downtown, Westgate, Old town Scottsdale. I would take them where there is interaction and a good atmosphere with other people.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I first want to thank all of my customers, because without them and their referrals I would not be in business. I also want to thank my wife who has helped me with my business since day one.
I also want to thank a good friend of mine by the name of Jeffrey Wacker who has pushed me and influenced me since day one. He has helped me grow and continues to give me Autoglass and business advice on a day-to-day basis.
