We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Skidmore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business has been something that I’ve thought about for years, I have always had a passion for construction and building. I have worked for General Contractors for the past 10 years and have been mentored by incredible businessmen and women. I made the decision to start my own company after realizing the need for residential general contractors that emphasize communication and transparency. I have heard the same story from friends, neighbors and community members about not getting calls back from general contractors or receiving a price that seems incredibly high with no explanation. I want to change that narrative and provide our community with a service that is fair, honest and above all else dependable.

What should our readers know about your business?
BlackPalm LLC is a residential general contracting company that puts communication and dedication first. We will help you understand the construction process and scope rather than just charge you. We want to exceed our clients’ expectations and that is accomplished by communicating, meeting deadlines and paying close attention to the details.

Starting a construction company is not easy and running a construction company can be even harder. Anyone can watch a Youtube video or read a book about a DIY project or renovation but having the experience and skill to accomplish the project is much more difficult. I have taken my 10 plus years of experience and turned it into BlackPalm LLC a company that will make you feel confident and excited about any project you are dreaming about.

Construction methods and materials are ever evolving, we have learned over the years that you must be curious about change and embrace it as it will allow you to deliver the best product possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a nature and food enthusiast so my itinerary would be based around these topics.

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is by far the best collection of plants, wildlife, and knowledge of our ecosystem in Arizona. I would plan on spending a full day at this indoor/Outdoor Museum.

My wife and I have stayed at “The Joshua Tree House” in Tucson and let me start by saying that this desert oasis is beyond incredible. The architecture, natural beauty and phenomenal accommodations will leave you breathless.

Wren and Wolf located at 2 N Central Ave #101 has a spectacular menu and the ambiance of the restaurant is captivating.

Spending a day tubing down the salt river will not disappoint anyone as you will most likely see wild horses cooling themselves in the shallows. Make sure to pack waterproof bags as there can be some rough current at certain points on the river!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my wife, family, friends and past employers for all of their love and support over the years. I would not be able to take on the responsibility of starting and running a company without them. I have learned much from each of these people but the most important thing I have learned from them as a whole is that you must strive for greatness and not settle for average. Each day these people make a difference in the world, and I want to carry that torch forward.
