We had the good fortune of connecting with Mackenzie Dickson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mackenzie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was 19 years old, I experienced a severe emotional trauma which resulted in a health crisis. I watched as my overall health began deteriorating despite my best efforts to heal my physical body through allopathic medicine, and natural medicine alike. This is when I felt like I had hit rock bottom, I felt powerless and helpless. From this place, I felt a deep draw and connection to Mother Earth as I continued to search for healing. I started studying Crystal Healing, Herbalism, Reiki and other natural ways to heal and care for my being holistically. Once I began to process my trauma and address my wellness from a physical, spiritual, and emotional perspective simultaneously, this is when I found empowerment to heal myself.

I saw what was possible with this work when I found my own sustainable, lasting, and true healing through it. As I began offering this work to other people I saw the same incredible results. Making this practice my full time job and allowing more time to dedicate to this important work was the natural next step.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a holistic wellness and spiritual mentor. I work one on one with people as well as I offer group healing sessions where I integrate crystal and herbal medicine and use it as one whole modality to support people on their self-healing journey. I also intentionally source crystals for people in a highly individualized way. When people tell me they need certain support I will source each crystal based on the intention and their specific needs, personality traits, etc. I also make customized crystal jewelry for people depending on how they wish to work with the crystal energy.
I offer all kinds of amazing products including herbal blends, teas, tinctures and other personal care items that I create from the energy of holistic wellness. I make custom blends and medicines, personal care products, a lot of different things and I really enjoy creating products to support my clients. I believe herbs and plants bring the energy of holistic wellness to our bodies very naturally and we can work with them in so many different ways from face serum to herbal tea.
I do quite a few things and I feel very passionate about sharing these pieces of my work, so I also teach classes on many of the topics I just talked about. I believe that these healing allies and various tools are our birthright and every human deserves to have access to them for their own wellness. Teaching classes is one way I feel I can help ensure people have access to this information.
I got to where I am by not being afraid to keep showing up and talking about what I do. When I first started talking about my work, I struggled to help people understand what I do. I kept talking about it anyway and as I did it became so much easier. I also wasn’t afraid to teach and share the knowledge that I have. It was pretty daunting at first to put myself out there like that, but I had such a blast! I found that I had a real passion for teaching and empowering other people with knowledge. It also really helped to set me apart as I came to be known as a resource in the community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them out into nature as much as possible! There is so much in this great state to share and to see. Twobit Peak trail at 40th street and Shea is one of my favorites. You get such a spectacular view of the valley. Of course, you really have to see the Grand Canyon when you come to Arizona as well, but there are many other little towns and areas I love to take guests. The Red Rock and vortexes of Sedona, Antelope Canyon, the beautiful forests of Flagstaff, the possibilities are absolutely endless!
I love to cook wholesome, organic and nourishing meals for my guests, but on nights I wasn’t cooking I would take them to Giving Tree Cafe, CIBO and the Chestnut for some amazing food. I’d also take them for a visit to Lacuna Kava Bar downtown for some high-vibe nightlife!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Southwest Herb Shop & Gathering Place in Mesa, Arizona for providing such a beautiful community for me to begin my practice in and for helping me build my herbal knowledge.

My older brother, Ben, my Mom and my Husband have all been incredible support for my business. Offering their time and energy to help me make this a reality and for always believing in my vision.
