We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrienne Acquaye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrienne, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My Lovely Lunatic Leo Life Podcast inspires people to find their own happiness and to find the strength to do what they love. I do this just by talking about things I’ve experienced. I truly believe love is a superpower. So I show love. Love heals and I am a healer. I talk about my life experiences, including solo travel, gastric sleeve surgery, abortion, plant medicines like Yage, Ayahuasca, Shrooms, 5MEO-dmt and living fearlessly on the outside. But internally scared but trusting in my spirit and the universe to guide others to dig deep into their souls and love

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is my voice. I always spoke my mind. As I got older I spoke freely and I realized I spoke words that not everyone was brave enough to express. So I spoke for others. Then I learned me speaking about my life experiences helped others who were too embarrassed or ashamed. I was given the opportunity by Wendy Williams back in her radio days in NYC at WBLS. I interned and babslysat and tutored her 5 yr old son. I was fired from her twice. Then she started talking about me on the air and said she would have me blacklisted from radio. This is at 23 years old while I was trying to make a name for.myself in radio. I felt destroyed. It took me 2 years to get over it and move on. I was given another chance by Councilman Dupre Kelly of Westward of Newark NJ. He is part of a 1990’s rap group Lord of the Underground. He gave me a chance in radio to be on his team and I worked with him for 2 years. Then had my own shows from then on out. I have been doin radio for almost 20 years and had ny podcast for 5 years. The last 2 years have even my glow up. But my souls purpose in this lifetime Is to inspire others to be free. To find happiness and strength to live life. And I’ve been this way since I was a kid. I always volunteered to be in the spotlight. Or karaoke even though I cant sing. I know what my souls destiny is and my purpose in this life. And its to share my story and inspire.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I honestly don’t know of much to do now adays. I’m always invited. But I prefer game nights and friends houses. I do love a grown and sexy Kenyan restaurant/bar in Newark NJ. Swahili Village. I enjoy concerts and karaoke bars. I enjoy museums, plays, and going hiking in the woods.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family, friends, and life experiences are who I can thank and give credit to. Let me tell you, It wasn’t easy to hear or see what people were telling me because I was focused. But I’ve learned you can’t do things alone. People who love you will be honest with you even knowing it can cause friction. I was open to listen to criticism and opinions which helped me grow and shape my brand. I sometimes didn’t like what I was told or shown. But when I listened, it helped me and I eventually understood what some meant.
