We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Farley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, what do you attribute your success to?
I remember this moment well… The moment I realized I was using my team’s core values to base our decisions on. And my current team at the time was not a great team, nor did their values mirror my own. I was reading The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni and he spoke about culture and values. He said every company has a culture. It’s whether or not that culture is intentional or accidental that makes the difference. Ours was definitely accidental. We were saying yes to things outside of our wheelhouse and values. We were keeping bad employees because we were busy. We were making all-around bad decisions because we didn’t have the guiding principles that were my own values. And without your own values front and center how do you value anything you do, let alone build a culture intentionally? I decided that day to put my values first, after all, this was my company and we were following my vision. I needed to get like-minded people on the team and this was the answer. I dug hard to find values with more meaning than the usual ones you see in other businesses, such as Honesty, Integrity, Kindness, etc… these are what Lencioni refers to as “Permission to Play”. These are the minimum standards that you need just to get in the door. After hours of soul searching, I concluded that I hold Empathy, Humility, and Accountability above others. However, I didn’t feel this was very masculine, and as a man in Contracting, I need something more. Those values became our motto- I will, Sacrifice for others, move without fear, and own my outcomes because I AM Redline! Once my actual values were in place it was time to rebuild. Now we do everything based on our values. Hire, promote, partner, clients, etc… They are our north star!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely be hitting the mountains for a hike, whether it was South Mountain, Piestewa Peak, or Camelback, we would be at the top before the week was over! Golfing and Eating along that way at some of my favorite spots like Taco Chello, Tom’s BBQ, or The Capital Grille.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
EOA! Entrepreneurs Organization’s Accelerator program! This organization’s mission is to empower entrepreneurs with the tools, accountability, and community to aggressively grow and master their business. This group is filled with like-minded people who have a vast amount of experience and are willing to share and help in any way possible. Now an EO Arizona member myself, I give back to the Accelerator program by spending time on the board and mentoring.
