Meet Akili Worthy | Spiritual Strategist, Cultural Healer & Founder of the Spiritual Black Girl™ Movement

We had the good fortune of connecting with Akili Worthy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Akili, how does your business help the community?
My work through Spiritual Black Girl™ and The Kemetic Code™ is rooted in the healing and liberation of Black people across the diaspora. We are creating a future where Black identity is not defined by trauma, colonization, or survival—but by remembrance, wholeness, and divine power.
The core of what we do is help Black people reconnect with who we were before the interruption—before slavery, colonization, and forced disconnection from our spiritual systems. We teach ancient African principles, provide energetic and emotional healing, and offer tools that allow our people to reclaim their bodies, minds, and spirits.
This isn’t just about personal development. It’s about community transformation. When we remember the power in our lineage, we create new possibilities—economically, emotionally, spiritually, and culturally. Our work helps restore balance where there’s been distortion, truth where there’s been erasure, and sovereignty where there’s been control.
We believe a healed Black people create a healed world.
What should our readers know about your business?
Spiritual Black Girl™ is more than a brand—it’s a movement, a reclamation, and a sanctuary for Black people who are ready to remember who they were before the world told them otherwise. Through healing circles, practitioner trainings, and The Kemetic Code™, we offer tools rooted in ancient African wisdom that help our people heal, rise, and return to their divine selves.
What sets us apart is our deep commitment to ancestral truth. The Kemetic Code™ is a sacred system built from the spiritual and energetic technologies of our African lineage. It honors the unique emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of Black people—providing a path of healing, remembrance, and reclamation that is culturally rooted and soulfully aligned.
I’m most proud of the fact that we’re creating something that doesn’t just inspire—it transforms. This is not surface-level wellness. It’s soul-level restoration. While we’ve always been resilient, we are going to realize the interruption was just that…nothing more than an obstacle that requires us to tap in and connect with each other to move forward. To move into a place of possibility. I’m just excited to be part of the process!
Getting here has not been easy. I’ve had to unlearn a lot of what I was taught about success, spirituality, us and self-worth. I’ve faced doubt, issues with work-life balance, financial risk, and the challenge of building something that didn’t have a blueprint. I had to remember that we are an excellent people! I kept listening—to my ancestors, to the vision, and to the people I’m here to serve.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that alignment is more powerful than hustle. The message I have to share with the world is based on my experiences, gifts and talents, as well as the problems I want to be part of solving. It’s unique to me, and that’s ok. In fact, it’s my birthright! My way of shaking the world of it’s axis, a little bit. When I finally stopped trying to fit into someone else’s model and allowed myself to build from truth and personal conviction, things began to unfold with more clarity and power.
What I want the world to know is this: Black people are not broken. We are interrupted. And everything I do is about helping us reclaim the parts of ourselves that have been silenced, stolen, or suppressed. I’m not here to empower anyone—I’m here to love us back to our original knowing.
This is a movement of memory, of magic, and of meaning. And we’re just getting started.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a native, I’ve been trying to leave AZ all my life but haven’t been able to stay gone for longer than a few years. There is a lot here I haven’t seen. If my best friend came to visit, I’d make sure they experienced the best of what this place has to offer—especially the sacred, the soulful, and the spaces that nourish and heal.
Day 1: Intentional Arrival
We’d start slow and simple—essential oils diffusing, affirmation cards out, and a moment to set intentions for the week. Nothing forced, just presence. For dinner, we’re heading to LoLo’s Chicken & Waffles—because I want to bounce my Black dollar in the community and the soul needs something good on the plate.
Day 2–3: Sedona Time
Then we head straight to Sedona, the spiritual epicenter of Arizona. We’d soak in the energy of the land, and then go on a Jeep tour through the red rocks—something surprising and unforgettable. I’d book us a spiritual reading or energy session while we’re there to deepen the journey.
Day 4: Spa + Stillness
Time to unwind. We’d book a spa day—massages, sauna, and anything that says “replenish me.” That evening is for spiritual stillness: cozy blankets, journaling, conversation card-pulling, and discussion that go far beyond the surface (with a little bit of shenanigans sprinkled in).
Day 5: Black-Owned + Bookstore Vibes
We’d hit up Grassrootz Bookstore to connect with culture, grab a few powerful reads, a fresh juice and support the community. If there’s a pop-up, live music, or panel—count us in. Dinner’s mellow, maybe a home-cooked meal or something simple from a local spot. I love to try new places to eat, especially those that are Black owned. We’ve been starving in AZ for some culture for years, and It’s nice to see a bit of a shift!
Day 6: Creativity + Connection
We’d spend the day tapping into our creativity—vision boards, playlist-making, art, maybe even dreaming up a project together. No rules, just flow.
Day 7: South Mountain Sunset
We’d close the trip with a slow walk and sunset at South Mountain. We’d speak intentions into the wind, reflect on everything we’ve felt and learned, and be excited to watch it all unfold.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my children – Adam and Asia, who are the heartbeat of my work. Everything I create—spiritually, culturally, and economically—is for them. I am fighting for a future where they can live fully, lead boldly, and love themselves deeply—not in spite of being Black, but because of it. It’s one of their superpowers and they should know it and live like it!
To my husband – Adam, thank you for helping to clear a path for what I’m building. That kind of space matters. Your support as a connector, and your willingness to let me expand in my lane, has helped more than you know.
To my father – Arthur, thank you for planting the seeds of revolution, pride, and Black brilliance in me long before I knew what to do with them. That foundation was the spark, and this fire burns through everything I touch.
To my brother – Jamal, your creativity and fearless spirit continue to inspire me to stretch beyond my comfort and into greater possibility.
And to my ancestors—the ones I know and the ones whose names were stolen—I honor you. Your wisdom guides this entire path. This is all remembrance.
