We had the good fortune of connecting with Albert and Vivian Toma and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Albert and Vivian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We are both in the medical field and wanted to do something on the side that would be fun and different from our every day jobs. The idea came after our wedding where we had a photo booth, and we thought hey this would be a fun gig to do!
What should our readers know about your business?
Petals and Pics is a fun, interactive photo booth with unique backdrops for every occasion. Our props are modern, our booth is sleek, and combined with our backdrops, it is overall aesthetically appealing at events. We started with just the booth and backdrops and now have dived into balloon art, balloon mosaics, etc. We’re excited to see our business grow in ways we didn’t think it would such as event rentals with our balloon art and marquee letters and such. It’s not easy getting into the event field because of the competition. But everyone has their own appeal and we feel as though when people hire us, they put their trust in us to go above and beyond their expectations. And we strive to do so. We’ve even started incorporating 1-2 minute highlight videos from their event in packages. We’ve learned that just going that extra step for someone is really appreciated. Events can be stressful and we want to capture the fun and memories that made it all worth it for our clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Arizona is such an amazing place to not only live, but to have people visit. We love beings tourists as well in our state when we have guests come. One place we love to visit and take people to is Sedona. It’s really just so magnificent. We usually take them to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, then Slide Rock. If we wanted to get a hike in, Cathedral Rock is the way to go. Antelope Canyon is also amazing to go to if you wanted to further your adventures up North. Luckily, Arizona is turning into a great foodie area. One of our favorite restaurants is The Henry and we try to take our guests there any chance we can get. Going out in Scottsdale for drinks a fun vibe as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to our dear friend Tanya Moushi! She was there from the beginning, helping us with our idea and mentoring us on how to dive right into a business. Also, our family and friends for supporting us from the beginning!
