Meet Alejandra Platt-Torres | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Platt-Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alejandra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I love to take risks on my photography career, is like a challenge to myself and the rest of the world. The risks for me is always trying to photograph the real Natural and Human World and I find out that the human world does not like to know the true about what is happening. I am always in trouble, whatever I say or whatever I photograph.
In the social life to know the true is to risks everything you bilieve!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I tell stories about the Human and Natural World, I began my career with the project In the name of God I photograph 60 different tribes all over México. I did and still using black and white film. And at the beginning of my career was not easy to work in a profession that was made for men, I am talking about 40 years ago. I choose to photograph the most vulnerable people from México and there always lots of risks where I was. Far away from cities and towns but beautiful.
Nothing is easy and nothing is difficult when you love what you do!
And my lesson is never forget to love, to care, and to be kindness!
The world needs all the lessons up there!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Tucson is amazing for the food, art, museums and galleries. There are so many people from all over the world in this microcosms that it is difficult to choose the best spot. Hiking the Catalina Mountains.
Cycling the river loops.
Walk and eat downtown Tucson.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Indigenous Nations of México
