We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Griswold and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’ve learned that when creating the life you want to live and the goals you want to achieve you have to get used to taking risks. The first few might feel scary and what’s even worse is sometimes you’ll have outside opinions making you second guess whether or not you should take that leap of faith. But if it wasn’t for the risks I continue to take I don’t think I would learn all the valuable lessons I needed to acquire to be the entrepreneur I am today. Taking risks also gives me the chance to practice being a student to life which is key in elevating your life. What I like to tell others is “You will never know until you try”. Much easier said than done but you’ll be so happy you did it and realize it wasn’t so hard.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Telling people about my work and what I do can be tricky sometimes. I try not to limit myself by saying I’m a model, vegan activist, or what ever people think that I am. That’s why I’m most excited about my Youtube Series “Life with Alexis Griswold”. This project gives viewers insight on who I truly am and how I moved out of my parents house for the first time ever from Portland Oregon to LA. Without giving any spoilers, I’m looking forward to people having the chance to see a unscripted documentary of my journey. From living in a new city and not having anyone to guide me or have an idea where to even start, to me building a team, having billboards of my YouTube channel all over Los Angeles, starting my clothing brand and celebrating life with friends I’ve made along the way. I’m proud to not just to be an example and show people they can achieve anything they set their mind to but also teach people how I succeed while filming the entire process. I’m very hands on and edit each episode myself to make sure the audience gets to know me at my truest self. Then I hand the rest over to my editor to add graphics, tags and time stamps. I’m so happy with how entertaining, fun and real all the episodes are coming out. I can’t wait for the world to see what we’ve been working on.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Actually one of my really good friends, Mary Braun, came to visit last week for 10 days. On the first day we started the morning by working out and having her guide me on some of her new ab routines that she teaches on her Youtube channel. After our work out we went to get lunch at Erewhon where we made some new friends at and sat at a table outside getting to know each other. We found out the people we met were actors and and we all shared our thoughts on health and our experience working in the industry. Then we drove to Malibu and walked around the beach, enjoying the view, talking about life and called some friends to meet us up at Catch for dinner that night. We headed home to get ourselves ready for the rest of the day and had one of our mutual friends who’s a talented photographer shoot some content for us around my house. Since we had finished early we went on a drive through the hills, showing her all the beautiful houses and listening to some of our favorite songs. Later we met up at dinner with our friends, ordered drinks and had the best vegan sushi. We sat around and talked for an hour or so until we headed out to a club nearby where one of our friends was djing. It was so much fun dancing and running into more friends there. Most of the days after that were pretty much the same, working out, going to eat at my favorite vegan restaurants, vlogging, photoshoots, shopping, and going out to party with friends.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my parents. My dad is extremely hardworking and has a big influence on my work ethic. As much as I admire that trait about him, I strive every day to work my hardest so I can retire him and give him the life he’s always deserved. I would love nothing more than to see him relax and enjoy doing the things that make him the happiest. I wouldn’t be the person I am today with out my dad, he’s the one who put me on to good music growing up and till this day he will text me and tell me the latest fashion trends and releases. He’s a friend to everyone and makes everyone feel welcomed. My mom has the biggest heart I know and I’m so grateful for that. She’s so loving and I think a lot of my compassion for animals stems from her and how empathetic she is. I love my relationship with her and how open minded is. I share all my thoughts with her and she never makes me feel weird for thinking outside the box. One other person I would like to thank is my nana and let her know how much I value her advice and guidance. As well as my friends, having them in my life reminds me how important is to surround yourself with people who you can learn from and who believe in your dreams as much as you do.
