Hi Joshua, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The story of the Outside Project Group (The Outside Project) is an inspiring one. The Outside Project was created by Joshua Silver in Melbourne Australia. Silver was studying a double degree of Commerce and Law which ignited his entrepreneurial spirit. What started out as a passion project and creative outlet, rapidly evolved into a prominent online community. Since then the Outside Project has become a globally recognized media company behind the content and digital campaigns for major outdoor and travel brands in Australia, USA and Canada. Namely, Park Hyatt, Aftershoks, The Weather Channel, GlampingHub to name a few. Alongside the agency, one of the most innovative ideas of The Outside Project is an “Explorer Program”. The Outside Project group is armed with over 50 photographers/’explorers’ from around the globe to create customized photography and videography for these brands.

The Outside Project Group stands proud in its mission and core message. Our mission is to empower individuals, creators, photographers to visually inspire the world through their art whilst celebrating the beauty, the wonder and awe it has to offer. Community, exploration, inspiration and sustainability are at the heart of the Outside Project brand. We inspire our followers to travel beyond the beaten path and provide them an Opportunity to create epic content for major, global brands.
With over 435k followers, the Outside Project community is growing powerhouse. We are a community who share our travel tips, photography advice and epic outdoor content. This community has organically grown over 5 years and comprises of individuals from over 100 different countries and backgrounds. Currently, with over 2 million impression per week, our community is more engaged than ever.
One of The Outside Projects’ favorite projects to date has been our collaboration with ‘Boxed Water’ on their plant 1 million trees campaign. The Outside Project’s creative team customized bespoke content to help drive their mission across multiple social platforms. The Outside Project loves collaborating with brands that share their passion for sustainability and minimizing their carbon footprint.
It is clear that a digital presence is now more important than ever. Businesses must pivot towards a digital approach to survive during these challenging times.
