Meet Alysa Hinton | Massage Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysa Hinton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alysa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, I wanted to create something that I could build on my own. I didn’t really have a plan but I just knew I wanted to have my own massage therapy business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love that I am amongst some of the best practitioners within wellness community. We each have our own unique way of offering wellness services to our clients. My business, Sunflower Wellness, is rooted in helping and teaching people how to better take care of themselves physically and mentally. The professional body work and classes that I provide, are very healing and often times people will use their sessions to talk about trials and tribulations that they are going through.
Sunflower Wellness is definitely something that I cherish. It’s been a long time coming and I am really excited to see what it will turn out to be. So far however, it hasn’t been all that easy. Sure, the first year wasn’t so bad because that consisted of the fun things such as creating a website, a social media platform, setting up a LLC, etc. The second year brought in the realization how expensive running a business was, but I still stuck it out. Other things that I’ve faced was a failed business partnership, loss of hope that my business was actually going to make it, and feeling burnt out. At the time these negative experiences may have felt like failing but today, I can see that those experiences taught me what I need in order to better run my business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would show my best friend the natural beauty of northern Arizona, the amazing Mediterranean food at Olive & Ivy in Scottsdale, and I’d also take them on a very relaxing trip down the Salt River.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to everyone who has supported me in this process. It hasn’t been easy and there have times that I wanted to give up. There is one person in particular however that I want to give a shout out to. Her name is Monika Avalos! She is my life coach and she has helped me tremendously throughout this process. She is also an inspiration to all of those around her, helping the community grow and the think more positively.
