We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Immurs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Trusting my gut is a big one. Becoming aware of my intuition regarding a situation and ignoring the nagging “should” mindset. I believe if you feel uneasy about a situation you should follow that instinct to walk away. If you dig deep enough you know what you need to do and what to prioritize.

Also it seems obvious but keeping a physical planner to write things down. I just find It easer to have a book verses using my phone/ computer. I also make daily and weekly to do lists- prioritize what needs to happen today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I see, hear, taste, or experience things every day that spark creativity for my paintings.

I jot things down as I see or experience them. Sometimes it’s just color combinations, other times it’s whole compositions,
My inspirations are everywhere. My work is all about these little or ‘regular’ moments of life.

I’m most excited to prioritize more time for my artistic practice. I have been working 50/50 as a house painter along with my art practice but I an slowly taking the leap into dedicating more time to grow the fine arts side of things. A big step in this transition is the addition of gallery representation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my own city? or Arizona? I’ve only been in Arizona briefly to go to opening day at Chase Field. While in Phoenix we did walk up Camelback Mountain and it was great.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom. When I was a child it was just the two of us. I think growing up with a strong female role model taught me that there is nothing I can’t do. Our house didn’t run with male and female roles. Whether it was washing the dishes or taking out the garbage- if it needed to get done you did it. I was taught that working hard and saving your pennies can get you far in the long run.
