We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexis Sharde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexis, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
One of the things that I loved and still love about my parents is their goofiness and never being afraid to be silly. I honestly think having that to look up to and enjoy as a child led me to the path of comedy. I have passed that down to my daughter as well. It is so empowering to be taught as a child to express yourself and to not hinder your creativity. I could see my daughter being an amazing theatrical performer, so I always make sure I don’t hinder her dramatics or antics just because I might be having a bad day for the intention of making sure she flourishes and never loses that child-like attitude towards life.Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Comedy is one of those things where most people assume it’s just a hobby. I started doing comedy 10 years ago and to this day when I tell someone I am a stand up comic they say “oh, that’s a cool hobby!” Listen bro, just because I am not Tiffany Haddish or Kevin Heart status doesn’t mean that this is not a career! I’ve learned to laugh it off. But honestly, the first 3 years you have no idea what you are doing. At one point I stopped completely and was creatively dead for 2-3 years until I dated a young buck who was obsessed with the fact that I didn’t have a facebook or instagram, so he googled me instead and found my youtube channel that hadn’t been updated in years. He texted me a link of one of my sets and said “You are so funny? How come you didn’t tell me you do this? Why don’t you do it anymore?” Even though he didn’t chose me, after all the booty calls, or put a ring on my finger, he helped me to choose myself again and doing what I love. Listen ladies….even f**k boys have a purpose in your life, find the gem, say thank you and keep it pushin’! Returning to the stage, I realized the more that you are yourself on stage as well as off, is when everything starts to click and make sense. Be authentic, stop trying so hard! That is the greatest lesson I have learned in this journey. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The greater Phoenix area is really a great place! Let’s start the morning off with a hike! If we are on the west side, let’s hike in Estrella and hit up Cafe Bebida before or after for an amazing glass of CBD infused cold brew coffee and a bomb panini. Or if we are more central, let’s hike Squaw Peak or Camelback then shoot downtown to Taco Chelo for amazing carne asade breakfast tacos. If you want to take a turn into a day drinking kind of late morning, we can stroll down Rosevelt and hit all the breweries and bars while enjoying all the amazing street art. If shopping is your thing, there is a hidden gem in Phoenix called ‘Last Chance’ which is the rack of Nordstrom Rack, it’s literally the last one in the country. A fun place to get some amazing designer deals and maybe even get into an elbow fight with another shopper in the store.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my dear friend Zinni. Zinni encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and to take my content creation to the next level. He saw it really taking it off for me and excelling my comedy career. I knew in my heart he was right, but was still hesitant, afraid of being judged by those who might not love my work. He encouraged me to not care and stay authentic. Once I made the decision to take his advice, there has been so much growth and I can confidently say I have a fan base now. Thank you Zinni for betting on me and showing me how to bet on myself. We will miss you here in ‘Merica.
