Meet Amber Moreno | Owner of Smokey Rabbit Candle Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, as a parent, what have you done for your children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I think being there for your children is the most important gift you can give them. Being present, going to their performances at school, parent/teacher conferences, doctors visits, helping with homework, doing fun things with them on the weekend, spending the extra cuddle time with them at night before bed. I feel that my husband and I have done a really good job at being present in all of our children’s lives. We want to be there for them, and live this life with and for them!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Amber, and I’m the creator and maker behind Smokey Rabbit Candle Co. Since I was young I’ve always had a love for candles. Something about them can turn your home into a cozy sanctuary, transport you to another time, help you relax, and just set the mood! The last couple of years have been interesting, for our family it felt like a blessing being able to spend SO MUCH quality time being home and quarantined. I’ve been a stay at home mom for the last 9 years doing ALL the things stay at home moms do. When 2020 hit, like everyone else we locked down, we got bored and out of that Smokey Rabbit Candle Co. was born! I was tired of having to buy candles and really wanted to learn how to make them on my own. Especially while we had the time to do it! It was so much fun! It was a way for the kids and I to create and play around with scents! We all became little chemists! The name of the company took us a little bit of time to come up with…

Our family had a Flemish Giant rabbit. He was gigantic! My middle daughter Ava is anaphylactic allergic to dogs and allergic to all other animals EXCEPT rabbits. So we decided we wanted the largest breed of rabbit we could get! His name was Huckleberry, he was a SMOKEY brown color. He grew to be the size of a medium sized dog and had the temperament to match! He was a free roaming bunny which meant he wasn’t confined to a cage and basically had free roam of our house. He was amazing. Everyone who came in contact with Huck was shocked at his size but fell in love with him. Unfortunately he passed away earlier this year and devastated our family and everyone that knew him. My great friend, Lauren, presented the name and immediately we knew our company needed to be named after him! Now it feels so much more special to me!

Smokey Rabbit Candle Co, is a small batch, luxury home fragrance company! We pride ourselves on making clean burning, beautifully scented, wooden wick candles, floral reed diffusers and wax melts! It was very important to me to create clean products, since my daughter needs to be able to breathe clean air, we knew we needed to create products safe for EVERY home our company touches! All the products we use are non-toxic and clean burning, natural products! Our new skin & body product line will have sensitive skin in mind while making lovely smelling products! Can’t wait for you guys to see what’s next!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our family’s favorite place to visit here in Arizona is Sedona! My husband and I got married at West Fork Trail in 2012. We go back every year with our kids and reminisce. They have beautiful hikes, delicious wineries, the cutest cabins, amazing arts at Tlaquepaque, and a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!!
