We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Devine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am a college student currently working towards earning my bachelors degree in economics at Arizona State University. I began looking for internships at the beginning of 2022, but was unable to find good fits for me in the area I live in, so I began looking up remote work. I came across a part time ad for a travel agency, and that was when I started my journey of creating my travel business and building my brand. I love traveling and always have, so getting to share my experiences while also selling travel has been fun for me, because it’s something I already love to do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have grown up traveling around the country thanks to my father. As soon as my sister and I got old enough to start remembering the trips we’d take, he started branching out from our home state and I’ve now got over half of the United States crossed off my list. I also love finding a good deal and that’s what being a travel agent is all about, finding the best travel deals so your client doesn’t have to. Currently, I am still working on a better way to connect with potential clients because I am still new in this game. But over the past few months, I have been able to expand my social media presence thanks to support from my family and friends and that has meant a lot. I think a lot of people have the misconception that travel agents are all about the money, but that’s not it at all. As travel agents, we get exclusive deals that we can share with our clients that they would not be able to find on their own. If there was one thing I’d want people to know about Andrei Wanderlust Travel, it’d be that I love what I do. I love begin in charge of how I show off myself and my business and I love seeing the responses I get to my posts on social media. I have loved watching my small number of followers grow and I know I’ve got God to thank for that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My hometown is pretty small, but I would definitely recommend eating at Filippos, a family run pizzeria here in town. There’s a lot of pretty walking paths in the area, like the River Bend Forest Preserve, Lake of the Woods, and Allerton Park. I’m a big nature person, so I’ll always recommend a good hike. During the summer, Sholem Pool is always nice on a hot day, it’s the biggest swimming area around here and it’s the one I grew up going to. Ko Fusion is one of my favorite sushi places, so that’d be a good dinner spot. Then there’s always the movie theater for a night indoors, or mini golf to enjoy the night breeze.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My travel agency is insured and backed by an affiliate company, Archer Travel. Without the support and trainings I continuously receive through Evolution to grow my business and my confidence, I would not have even started down this path as a travel agent, let alone begin building my own brand within the travel industry.
