We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Procida and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandria, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for The Mindful RN LLC because I struggled with my own health concerns, which included, gut inflammation, thyroid issues, and hormonal imbalances.

When I felt how good feeling healthy could be, I just wanted to share it with everyone. My journey started much later in life after years of fatigue, brain fog, and feeling uncomfortable in my own skin.

I realized that the food I had been eating and the habits I had been forming were making me feel terrible every day. As I learned more, I started to understand all the misconceptions that transformed my life, and I became healthier each day, and I wanted to share and spread the word to help people who wanted to take charge of their own health.

After working in the hospital as a Registered Nurse for 6 years and seeing many of the same patients cycling in and out for all types of health concerns, it made me really want to address the root cause of their dysfunction.

I had been thinking a lot about holistic/functional medicine for a couple of years, I started the Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner program, and I was shocked at all the information provided, that I never learned in nursing school. And now, I help others achieve their optimal health and wellbeing!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of The Mindful RN LLC and a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. I would describe myself as a health detective. I help women with thyroid issues to balance their hormones, gain back their energy and lose weight by rewiring their lifestyle habits based on individual functional lab screenings

What sets me apart from other health coaches is that my research is passion-fueled, especially since I have learned so much about my own body and how to feel the best I can. I am certified to run and interpret functional labs. I create holistic behavior protocols to heal the entire body, not just address specific symptoms. I am most excited about helping other women gain control of their lives, mindset and overall well being

My business journey has been challenging yet very fulfilling. The beauty of it is that it truly never feels like a job and I can honestly say once I gained the ability to earn a living through that which I am so passionate about it has opened me up to an even better mindset for personal growth. It fuels my desire to help others while also teaching me better ways to improve my health and well-being at the same time. Talk about a win-win situation. I have learned to allow time for myself so I can fill my own cup and provide the best care and support to my clients through their journey to feel and be their best.

My mission is to encourage healthiness and well-being, thrive within a like-minded community, follow my purpose and calling to facilitate healing, and empower my clients to have optimal health.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am an early riser and I LOVE starting my day exposing my eyes to sunlight to balance my circadian rhythm I would start with a walk in El Dorado Park or Tom’s Thumb for a hike

I would grab breakfast and a coffee drink from Fame Caffe in Phoenix, The Henry or Berdena’s in Old Town for avocado toast

I would use Resort Pass and sunbathe at one of the beautiful resorts. My favorites are The Scott, and Hotel Adeline

I would grab an afternoon smoothie from Kaleidoscope or lunch from Flower Child or Etta in North Scottsdale

For pre-dinner drinks and a charcuterie board, I would go to Rough Rider
I would choose First and Last in Phoenix for dinner

I LOVE the Scottsdale Museum of the West

The Hole in the Rock in Papago Park is a beautiful place to bring a coffee and relax. I would bring macarons from Ruze cake house in Old Town

I would walk around Old Town and check out the shops
I would hit up the Old Town Farmer’s Market on Saturday

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my husband Joe. He gives me so much support every day, especially when challenges arise. He encouraged me to leave my stressful and unfulfilling job to venture out and start my own business. He gives me the love and encouragement I need to succeed in my business journey.
