We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Beij and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Living an authentic life makes me happy. Feeling like I am where I want to be, doing what I want to do makes me feel fulfilled. I’ve been very fortunate to have the opportunity to make choices in my life that led me to living a fulfilling life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an abstract artist, and my art reflects the natural beauty of the places and the culture of the people I’ve been encountering. I recently set on a year long journey around the world, as a traveling artist, getting inspired and painting along the way.

In my creative process, I incorporate natural elements of the countries that I’ve been visiting, such as leaves, sand, flowers, herbs, etc. My inspiration happens organically, literally and metaphorically.

I’ve always been passionate about learning about the world, cultures, religions, etc. I left my small town in Southern Brazil about 10 years ago to come to the USA in search of experiences and learning that would ultimately lead to learning about who I was outside of the place where I was born. The journey so far hasn’t been easy in so many aspects, from learning a new language to being away from my family, but I would’ve chosen the same path again.

The journey so far has opened my horizons. The journey ahead of me will continue to do so. I’m looking forward to meeting the person I will be at the end of this year long travel.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A perfect day would start with breakfast followed by a walk a the beach, then a hike over the mountains, back at home for a nap, and end the day with a delicious dinner at a good restaurant and a few drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All people in my life deserve that recognition, as I learn from them every single day. The person that has supported and encouraged me the most is my husband, Brandon Ancier.
