We had the good fortune of connecting with rada neal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi rada, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” Goethe

I am a big fan of quotes. I find them inspirational and motivational.

Being bold means to put fear and doubt aside and often it results in magic. In my case I have the opportunity/power to create magic with my music.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At this point in my life what sets me apart from others might be my age. According to precedence I should be retired,

Mant artists write music by ear. Meaning they likely do not read music. The ability to read music offers the artist decades of music from which to learn. I like to take the best of both those skills and start spinning my music.

I have been playing music for nearly 6 decades and writing for 2 decades. I don’t think in terms of hard or easy but rather what comes next. Today I am writing a Tango. The lesson is persistence and perseverance,

The world loves music and in particular piano music. My story is about the passion it takes to create music and how that passion can elevate the human condition. You, the listener, has the opportunity to let the music do its magic.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We recently [ 2020] moved to Arizona. The drive from San Diego to Colorado [ where we lived for 7 years] takes one through a large part of Arizona. Arizona is 75% mountainous and has one of the seven wonders of the world.

The Sonoran desert is the wettest desert in the world. The Madera Canyon is world renowned for bird watching. Sedona is a location of unrivaled beauty as is the Grand Canyon. The state of Arizona has so much to see it wouldn’t be possible to share it all in a week.

We are just in the beginning stages of getting to know and appreciate all Arizona has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My initial encouragement comes from my mother for she always made me feel special when she heard me playing the piano. She never had the opportunity to learn an instrument so I became her first teacher.

Along my journey my fans have been encouraging. From the very first professional job I had which was playing for the Sunday brunch at The Rancho Bernardo Inn [ San Diego] complete strangers would tell me how much they enjoyed listening to me play.

My family has been wonderful in helping to sell my cds. My friends have been great about sharing my music and my husband ,who is a fan of rock ‘ roll, has learned that he can like piano music equally as much.

On April 25, 2023 the KNOW chapter of Phoenix will be presenting me an award.
