We had the good fortune of connecting with Andranique Mercier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andranique, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Very few people take risks to stay in the safe zone of life. This is because risks are viewed as scary, irregular, and something to avoid in order to guarantee a predictable life. However, majority of the most successful/wealthy people had to take risks to get to where they are.

Taking risks has played a major role in my life for the simple fact that all of the risks I’ve taken has not only helped me become successful, but has encouraged full awareness of myself and the world around me. It also creates the guts to think and be bigger.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting my first job at the age of 14 prepared me for the world early and gave me ample amount of time to explore multiple career paths including food & beverage, retail, health & fitness, finance, hospitality, healthcare, as well as travel. And through all of my different ventures, I kept coming back to the one thing I loved most, travel. For a while I couldn’t figure out how I could make money doing what I loved to do after a failed flight attendant trial and that’s when travel planning hit me upside the head. What sets me aside from most travel planning services is that I have a innate talent for planning and superb attention to detail. I also bring personal experiences to my clients being that I’ve traveled to over 60 destinations nationally and 15 countries nationwide and plenty more to come. It wasn’t easy getting where I am today, but I never gave up. I took chances and never avoided making attempts even if I knew there was a chance of failing. I over came challenges by allowing myself to feel my emotions about things as needed and I learned along the way that everything doesn’t work for everyone, so go with what works for you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week long trip in The grater Phoenix area, I would make sure my best friend and I hit ever corner of town. We’d start in Glendale for a Cardinals game and stop by Ocho Ríos Jerk Spot for some authentic Caribbean cuisine. Next we’d do a little bowling in central Phoenix at the Let It Roll Bowl and dance the night away at club Silverado. We’d continue to Abyssinia in south Phoenix for some delicious Ethiopian food and Chars afterwards for some live Jazz. On the 4th day we’d groove to some tunes while eating sushi at Moiras in downtown Phoenix and catch some views and a mocktail at Bar Smiths. 5th we’d start the morning with a hot air balloon ride over Phoenix followed by a refreshing hike through Sedona. 6th we’d grub on some southern brunch while live Djs mix at Sugar Jam in north Scottsdale, then make our way to old town Scottsdale to keep the party going into the night. On the last day we’d spend the day in Tempe and chandler making our own shae butter at the Shae Butter Bar, dinner at LA crab shack, and end with a rooftop movie at Skysill rooftop lounge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my support system for always encouraging me even when they didn’t understand my vision and for rooting for me even when they didn’t agree with my choices.
