We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Hinton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business include the freedom to be able to spend the needed time with my clients without feeling rushed. I want to give them the best, individualized, having my own practice allows me to determine the appropriate time needed to deliver quality care to my clients. Let’s be honest, being your own boss allows you to set your own hours. Working in mental health can quickly cause burn out therefore I feel like there is a good balance between my work life and personal life. I have a passion for mental health therefore I want to be in optimal condition to support my clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am still in the early stages of my practice, but it is a learning experience regarding what works for getting my name out there. It is a process that I enjoy learning. Starting a business, I just take it step by step and trust the process. What sets me apart from others is that I have the extra time to spend with my clients compared to a large company. No matter what they are struggling with, I am here to provide a supportive and welcoming environment. I have an integrative approach where we do not only focus on the mental issues at hand but approach care with a holistic mindset. This means we will exam other causes of anxiety, for example rather than just placing someone on medication. I believe therapy is essential to our mental health journey as well. We cannot heal our wounds if we do not eventually face them. I also work closely with therapists for those who are seeking therapy. Overall, I am here with my clients to journey together to reach their mental health goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my goodness. There are some many places. Let’s start with Cibo’s in downtown Phoenix, for lunch, that was born out of a quaint little house built in the 1920s. They have a beautiful, welcoming courtyard covered in trees for those cooler months to enjoy one of their signature pizzas and a glass of Savion Blanc. We topped the meal off with one of their delicious strawberry crepes. Don’t forget to add a scoop of ice cream. Then we head up to Sedona to experience the spectacular views of the mountains. We enjoy one of their short hikes that involves one of the vortexes. Then do the touristy thing, do a little shopping around Uptown. We have to stop at Tlaquepaque but then I would show her some of the less expensive places for those popular crystals. After our busy day we have to stop at Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante. Pricey but the food is worth it. After we get some sleep, we pick up a quick bite to eat and head back to the valley.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are multiple people I want to give a shout out to, including the incredible nurses and nurse practitioners whom I have gained vital experience as well as tremendous support. I want to give a shout out to my boyfriend, Andy, who has been nothing short of amazing in supporting me through my schooling journey as well as the progression to entrepreneurship. My daughter Mikayla, who just goes with the flow through this whole process.
