We had the good fortune of connecting with Andy Ptacek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andy, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
There’s a “life hack” for everything it seems. Everyone wants a shortcut! But if you really want meaningful change, you have do the work… all of it! Life HACKS will only get you so far. Life PRACTICE will get you what you work for. When we practice the parts of life we want to improve, we lean how to heal our past so that we can become the best versions of ourselves and live a truly full life… no matter how long or short it is!⠀ ⠀ Shortcuts, or “hacks,” cut out the most important parts of our lives… the parts in-between where we learn and grow and experience the true fulfillment of the ride that prepares us for bigger and better things. Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Be New, LLC is dedicated to helping women realize that they are not defined by their past, their circumstance, or the labels put on them. Every new day is a chance to be new. I help women heal their identity through faith-based perspectives and “Life Practice.” I am most excited about our new 12 week program, Renew You! This program is the result of many conversations and feedback from clients. Renew You is designed to help women break though circumstantial doubts causing frustration, heal broken belief systems blocking aspirations, and finally learn how to live unapologetically true! Each week we work on aligning feelings, beliefs and actions to achieve desired results faster. Personally, I had to learn the art of renewal as a survival tactic to get me through the darkest moments of my life after a brain cancer diagnosis. But I don’t believe it takes a massive trauma or terminal illness to create the urgency necessary to finally thrive in the fullness of your life and callings. It just takes an inner desire to get intentional about your numbered days on this earth so you can make the most of it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would encourage visitors to hike any of our beautiful mountain trails in the fall/winter/spring, stay at The Scott Resort, and sample some of the best food and drinks at Revolu, Blanco Tacos & Tequilla, and hang out at The Yard for live music and games! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was diagnosed with brain cancer, the first question I asked was, “Am I going to live long enough to raise my kids?” The doctor cried. I had her answer, but I didn’t accept it as my own. I leaned on the encouragement of my husband, Bruce and the motivation of our two sons. As I worked through the physical and mental healing process, God was my mentor and my faith in His power and divine will got me through. When I was diagnosed, my kids were three and six. They are nine and 12 now. Every morning I wake up with gratitude for another new day, a new chance to live intentionally, and a new chance to lead with love.
