Meet Angela Lorraine

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Lorraine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, how do you think about risk?
Taking a risk to me was intriguing. Before starting my business I often wondered whether taking a risk in this idea of becoming a wedding planner and building this business from the ground up would be worth it? I had this intention that making something of my own would give me the flexibility to be at home with our future children. Now that I’m about 3 years into Layke Events I am learning that I am still very much in this place where I continue to take risks for that flexibility. Everyday there is a sacrifice to make and I’m hoping that taking this risk in starting Layke Events will pay off. I guess I’ll find out when I get to quit my current 9-5 job! Ha!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
There is so much more to a wedding or event than people realize. These gatherings are represent so many walks of life and experiences people are sharing! Getting married? Someone will be seeing their childhood friends again for the first time in 15 years. Or having your divorced parents in the same room again since your childhood bringing nostalgia. Having your first baby shower? Feeling the immense love your friends and family already have for your child. This is why I do what I do. I help to create and execute these experiences that turn into memories for the rest of their lives. Owning and managing a business is not easy, but neither is planning for a major life event! I’ve learned to listen and recognize how I can best serve a client, and so far its paid its weight in gold. At the end of the day, I’m just a girl trying to figure life out, but why not try to help others too!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I was with a friend an ideal day would be a Saturday morning farmers market, then Trader Joes for a new flower arrangement while sipping on a coffee from Dutch Bros. Then lunch at Joe’s Farm Grill in Gilbert before heading to the pool. That night getting ready for dinner at Joyride Tacos in downtown Gilbert before seeing a show at Hale Theater!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The small wins I’ve had in my career so far would mean nothing if I didn’t have my husband Cade by my side cheering me on! He’s always had unwavering faith in me and my ability to grow Layke Events therefore I dedicate this shoutout to him!
I would also love to give credit my friends and family for seeing this talent I had before I even recognized it! They truly told me I should make something out of it, and here we are today!
