Meet Anthony Holguin | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Holguin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anthony, what’s your definition for success?
I define success as having everything you need and the ability to obtain the things you want. I have a roof over my head, food in my fridge, and a healthy family. To some, that is success. For me personally, I am grateful for everything I have, but I don’t see that as the end. I have worked hard for what I have and I don’t think that means I need to stop working because I have what others want. Success for me is not to have the necessities in life. Success to me involves things such as to have enough saved for my daughter’s college, to never have to tell my wife or daughter that we can’t do something because we don’t have the money, and to shop for what we want not just what we can afford. Success for me involves the material things in life. Obtaining certain material goals in life defines my personal success. A yellow Lamborghini sitting in my driveway will be the day I can walk out and say “I made it”. I don’t care if anyone ever sees the car other than me. I have tried comparing my life to others and thinking I’m not successful, but as I’ve grown as a person I see that success looks different in everyone’s eyes and the only definition I need is my own. My family’s well being is not a definition of success but more a standard in my life with no option to fail.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am sitting where I am today because I was forced to make a decision. Covid took a toll on the world and it took a toll on my paycheck as well. With a daughter on the way I took a large pay cut from my previous employer. Every financial plan I had in place was dissolved from one day to the next. I knew immediately I was going to have to make a tough decision and I did. I put in my one month notice at my job and ventured out on my own. Not as competition to my employer, but into a field I had no doubt I could succeed. I learned how expensive starting a business could be. I learned that every short cut I took or cheap equipment I bought ended up costing me money and/or time in the end. I learned that there are plenty of times where giving up seems like the only option. I pushed one day at a time and never completely gave in to the rough days. One customer led to another, and another, and the next thing I knew I was working 7 days a week just to keep up. There are still plenty of rough days, but at least now I know it doesn’t last forever. Tomorrow is a brand new day and that keeps me going.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Phoenix metro is a big area to cover. When my friends visit I do my best to explain that whatever they want to do it’s all within a 20 minute drive. Indoor skydiving, 20 minutes. Top Golf, 20 minutes. Mill ave, 20 minutes. We have to eat at least once at Oregano’s. We have to play golf at any of the awesome courses available to us out here. If we have time we would visit the Grand Canyon of course, and then hit the lake for a day on the boat. Maybe even a little fishing in a community pond since we can get there in 20 minutes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I cannot credit all of my success to any one person. My story may sound a bit different than others out there. My success is based on my motivation and will to push just a little further. My biggest motivation in life has been anyone and everyone that has said “you can’t do that” or “that’s impossible”. I have this little bug inside me that is determined to prove those statements wrong. My mom is one of my biggest supporters in life in that she not only told me, but made me believe that I could do anything in life if I want it bad enough. She has tried to steer me away from my own business to play it safe and work for a big company with good benefits, but that path just wasn’t for me. She has questioned every decision I have made to this point and all that did was awaken that little bug inside me and push me even harder to prove that I was capable.
