We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith Comfort and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meredith, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I often wonder what my children will remember about me and my work during their childhood so I love this question! I like to think that I have shown them that hard work, perseverance and (most of all) passion can lead you to success in whatever path they choose to follow in life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My favorite part about the art of portrait and lifestyle photography is all the smiles! I am a people person by nature, and I love meeting all of these couples and families to capture their memories forever in a piece of art. I have had several clients rave about my ability to make them and their children feel comfortable in front of the camera and have fun with it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would absolutely start with a tour of the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. I shoot there often, and it is a great introduction to the beauty of the desert. I would also take them on a hike in Papago Park to the Hole in the Rock. And then we would end with a walk around Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix. In this spot we can see amazing murals by local artists, and check out Angels Trumpet Ale House for some yummy food and drinks!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have an amazing support system in my friends and family, but I truly could not have started the business without my amazing husband and parents. My husband Travis has been my biggest cheerleader from day one, pushing me to find my style and follow my enthusiasm for the art of photography. We orignally started the business together, and he was the one that encouraged me to take it on as my own endeavor. He also has the uncanny ability to make me laugh no matter what else has happened that day!
And then there are my parents, who always taught their children to do what you love. As an architect and music teacher, they filled our home with art and culture on a daily basis, setting great examples for the success of matching your passion with your career. And my mother was a HUGE help with my children when they were small! She watched them for me almost daily so that I could book all of the shoots I could handle. There are no words for the incredible gift of time she gave me when I was trying to build the business.
