Meet April Washinowski | Registered Nurse & Owner of Karma Aesthetics and Wellness Medical Spa

We had the good fortune of connecting with April Washinowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
As a mom of eight, an NP student, and a business owner, work-life balance has never been about perfect symmetry—it’s about being present where I am and giving myself grace along the way. Over the years, my definition of balance has evolved. Early on, I thought balance meant trying to give equal time and energy to everything, every day. But I quickly learned that approach leads to burnout, especially when you’re juggling motherhood, school, and running a business like Karma Aesthetics and Wellness.
Now, I view balance as something fluid. Some days, my family needs more of me. Other days, it’s about school deadlines or the business. I’ve learned to prioritize what truly matters in the moment and to lean into support—whether that’s my team at the spa, my family, or setting boundaries to protect my own mental space.
What grounds me is the “why” behind everything I do. I want to create a legacy of wellness and empowerment—not just for my clients, but for my children. That bigger picture helps me stay focused, even when the day-to-day gets chaotic.
Balance isn’t a destination—it’s a rhythm. And I’ve learned to dance to my own beat.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been anything but traditional—and that’s exactly what makes it beautiful. As a mom of eight, an NP student, and the owner of Karma Aesthetics and Wellness, I’ve learned that you don’t have to choose between being a nurturing mother, an ambitious professional, and a visionary entrepreneur. You can be all of those things—and more.
What sets me apart is that I bring real-life experience, compassion, and a deep understanding of people into everything I do. Karma Aesthetics and Wellness isn’t just about beauty—it’s about empowering others to feel confident in their skin, to heal, and to thrive. I’ve created a space that blends science, artistry, and soulful care, and I’m incredibly proud of that.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were sleepless nights, moments of doubt, and seasons where I had to push through exhaustion and uncertainty. But I never let go of the vision. I leaned on my faith, my support system, and the belief that I was being called to do something greater. I learned how to pivot, how to ask for help, and how to be kind to myself in the process.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that your story—no matter how chaotic or unconventional—is your superpower. It’s what makes you relatable, resilient, and real. I want the world to know that Karma Aesthetics and Wellness was born from a place of love, strength, and service. We’re not just offering treatments—we’re creating experiences that restore confidence, well-being, and inner peace.
My story is still being written, and I’m excited for what’s next—not just for me, but for everyone who walks through our doors and dares to chase their own transformation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure they got the full Arizona experience—with the perfect blend of relaxation, natural beauty, and local flavor. First stop, of course, would be Karma Aesthetics and Wellness. We’d kick off the trip with a little self-care: a rejuvenating facial, maybe a glow-up treatment, and just a calm, peaceful vibe to set the tone for the week.
Then we’d get out and explore. One of my favorite spots to visit is the Boyce Thompson Arboretum—it’s such a hidden gem, full of desert beauty and peaceful walking trails. We’d also take a morning hike up the Wind Cave Trail for some fresh air and amazing views, and then spend a full day at Saguaro Lake, either kayaking, having a picnic, or just soaking up the sunshine by the water.
For food, we’d start the day with breakfast or brunch at First Watch—their fresh ingredients and relaxed vibe are the perfect way to ease into the day. And at least one night, we’re definitely heading to Rustler’s Rooste for dinner and drinks. Great food, live music, and a fun, unforgettable Arizona atmosphere—it’s a must for visitors.
The rest of the week would be filled with laughter, connection, and a mix of adventure and downtime—maybe catching a local farmers market, exploring little shops, or just having deep talks under the stars. To me, the best trips are all about balance: pampering the body, feeding the soul, and making memories with the people you love most.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely—there’s no way I could do all that I do without the love and support of my village. First and foremost, I have to shout out my children. Being a mom of eight has shaped every part of who I am, and their love, resilience, and motivation fuel me every single day. They are my “why.”
I also have to recognize my family and close friends who have stepped in, encouraged me, and helped me keep going when life got overwhelming. Whether it’s watching the kids so I can study, showing up to support Karma Aesthetics and Wellness, or just being a listening ear—they’ve all played a role in this journey.
And I can’t forget my mentors—especially those in the healthcare and aesthetics space—who have shared their wisdom, poured into me, and helped me believe in myself as both a future nurse practitioner and a business owner. Their guidance has been a game changer.
Lastly, a huge shoutout to every woman out there juggling motherhood, education, and entrepreneurship—you inspire me to keep going, and I hope my story encourages you in return.
