We had the good fortune of connecting with ASHLEY Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ASHLEY, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
One day I woke up with total clarity—I had a vision. I could see the brand I wanted to create, one that truly reflected who I am and what I love. After years of working in different salons, I realized that environment just wasn’t for me anymore. I needed the freedom to build something of my own—something unique, intentional, and creative. I wanted to design a space where I could express myself, connect with clients in a more meaningful way, and collaborate with other small businesses. The beauty industry is all about creative expression, and I knew it was time to channel that into something that was fully mine.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career in the beauty industry has spanned over 13 years, and in that time, I’ve worn many hats—from working in salons to offering mobile services right before Covid, and now, owning my own space, Cosmic Hippie Beauty. What sets me apart is the experience and intention I bring to each service. I don’t just want clients to feel beautiful—I want them to feel seen, relaxed, and cared for. My brand is all about creative expression, clean beauty, and creating a vibe that’s uplifting and uniquely mine.

I’m most proud of finally taking the leap to open my own space. It wasn’t easy—leaving behind stability to chase a vision is scary. I had to overcome a lot of fear and self-doubt, and there were definitely moments where I questioned everything. But I kept showing up, kept learning, and kept reminding myself why I started.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to trust my gut and stay true to my values. Not every opportunity is the right one, and it’s okay to carve out your own lane, even if it looks different from what everyone else is doing. I’ve also learned the power of community—surrounding myself with other passionate, inspiring women has been a game-changer.

What I want the world to know about Cosmic Hippie Beauty is that it’s more than just nails and lashes. It’s a safe, soulful space where creativity, connection, and self-care all come together. My story is still being written, and I’m so excited for everything that’s still to come!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It kind of depends on the time of year—Arizona summers make it tough to do a lot outside! But if I had a friend in town, I’d definitely take them to Old Town Scottsdale for food and drinks. There are tons of great restaurants and bars all within walking distance, and the vibe is always fun. For a little adventure, I’d take them up north to Sedona—those views and hiking trails are unreal and such a refreshing change of pace. And of course, I’d bring them to my shop, Cosmic Hippie Beauty, for a little pampering. Everyone needs some nail love, especially after exploring in the desert!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A few amazing women have truly inspired my journey. First, Vanessa Kavulish from Benefit Bar AZ—watching her grow her business and build strong community connections has shown me what’s possible when you stay authentic and passionate. Then there’s Taylor Laws, owner of Skin Habit. Even though she opened after I started my business, she’s already expanded and started hiring a team, which reminds me that growth like that is absolutely possible for me too. And Nicole Butler of Cole B Hair has been a huge inspiration for me going out on my own. Seeing how happy and at home she is in the space she created really stuck with me. She also teaches and works with brands to share education—something I dream of doing one day as well!
