We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Feagins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
When the universe brings together two people with the same passion and dream to help others have a better quality of life, magical things happen. My co-founder Josh and I were working in the cannabis space together where we saw the lack of knowledge and training in the industry as a whole on cannabis and how it can interact with your body in a therapeutic medicinal capacity. As we obtained certifications in cannabis medicinal applications we were able to work with people in a more one on one and individualized manner, assisting them with their cannabis journey in a way that dispensaries were not. After successfully coaching people and having new requests due to word of mouth from previous clients we realized this was something the industry desperately needed. Highly Healthy was born soon after with a coaching division and a topical division with products curated for our patients looking for relief options that were designed with therapeutic applications.
What should our readers know about your business?
For us, Highly Healthy is not about getting people high. It’s about teaching people tools and education to help them lead a cannabis-infused life in a more conscious and individualized approach. We believe in cannabis education for all and have seen time and again that when used in a way that is tailored to your specific needs, the cannabis-infused lifestyle has a higher chance of working in harmony with our endocannabinoid system, which is why we are so passionate about helping patients to understand the relationship between cannabis and their bodies. When clients come to us they know they are meeting with a consultant that has multiple certifications in cannabis medicinal applications as well as myself holding a certification in Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine from the University of Arizona. At Highly Healthy we pride ourselves on continuing our own education so that we can continue to support the industry fully as new developments and studies are happening every year.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming out to visit the trip would be planned around coffee, art, and good food, Some of my favorite places to immerse myself in creativity and art are: – The Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit
– Seeing a ballet or symphony performance downtown
– Taking a walking tour of the local murals downtown
– Visiting one of the local museums
– Day trip to Sedona is always inspiring and refreshing
I love going to places to eat that have a whole vibe about them that draws you in and makes you feel at home. For me, I will forever be a fan of Le Grande Orange. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, everything is delicious and their store is filled with beautiful local vendor goodies. If my best friend was coming to town we would definitely be going here more than once for the full experience. My favorites are their pizza, chicken, English muffins, or key lime pie. 🙂
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Starting a new business can be overwhelming and daunting even in the best circumstances. Having an amazingly supportive partner who builds you up but is also not afraid to give constructive criticism to help bring the vision to fruition was key to us reaching the point we are now. When we went into this, Josh and I did so with the promise that things would be 50/50 so we could both maintain a healthy work-life balance as well to help avoid burnout. I’ll be forever grateful that I have a partner like Josh, whose support system makes me feel like a rockstar even on the tough days.
