We had the good fortune of connecting with Autumn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Autumn, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My name is Autumn and I am the founder and owner of Sunny Doodles where we raise Goldendoodles and other Doodle breeds for pets, service work, and facility work. From the very beginning my goal has been to raise dogs that are able to be used as a working dog for families, or to be used for service to the community.

I am also a huge believer in making sure children have a voice and that they always feel safe and secure. I brought these two passions of mine together and created Sunny Schools Project. Through Sunny Schools Project we work to donate a dog that we raise to 8 weeks, temperament test, and then choose for a school handler.

What does “facility dog” even mean? A facility dog is specially trained as a service/therapy dog that works in a public setting. It can be a single location, like most of our Sunny Schools pups, or potentially used in multiple locations. Our Sunny School pups are chosen and trained specifically for school environments to help enhance the quality of day to day life for students and staff.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a trusted Breeder with a passion for Doodles. We breed for exceptional quality and ensure we always maintain the highest possible standards.

Our first goal is temperament. At Sunny Doodles we do have a strong focus on raising service, therapy, and facility pups for families with a particular need. Don’t get me wrong…we love the colors of the puppies that are produced but it is the least important. Our goal is that you have a happy and healthy doodle puppy for years to come.

Raising dogs is a 24 hour 7 days a week commitment. It’s not easy and I miss out on a lot! This has been the biggest challenge thus far! Needing time to set aside for family and friends. Thankfully I have been able to entrust some really great people to help me along the way with puppy raising.

The best part of what I do is when I get to hand over a new family member to someone!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love downtown Gilbert! It has a old time feel with so much to offer! You can hit the farmers market on weekends! Get breakfast at snooze while playing games on their patio! We love postinos for some great wine and appetizers! Taco Tuesday at joyride and if you wanna go out and get a nightclub vibe whiskey row doesn’t disappoint! Downtown Gilbert is super dog friendly with all the patio options.

We also love to take friends from out of town to Sedona and Jerome! We love the ice cream shop in Sedona and you can’t beat the candy/popcorn shop in Jerome!

I also love flagstaff! It’s my zen! Each time I go to visit I come home feeling refreshed and recharged! It’s also super dog friendly.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Huge shoutout to Megan with canine collaborations. Megan is our Sunny Schools project dog trainer!

Another shoutout is to my family for always supporting my passion!

Huge thank you to Dianne with neuro dog training. Dianne introduced me to buttons and has been a huge support system during the start of Sunny schools.

I could go on and on… but I have to give a shoutout to all of my fellow breeder friends! There are to many to mention but they are always available to chat on the hard days!
