We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailey Milbauer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bailey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was incredibly inspired by the dance community back in 2012 when I was first introduced to it through a friend. The amount of community support that music can have is unlike anything I had experienced. I wanted to be able to re-create that environment whilst also incorporating more local non-profit presence in the events we were doing. I really loved going to music festivals and local underground events but I didn’t see a whole lot of companies giving back to their communities or being involved in local non-profits. The thought process of “The Hive” or “Honeycomb Collective” is that we are all connected and our actions effect our environments.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started working as a promoter, box office staff, and really any entry level position I could in the very beginning. I always knew I wanted to work in events because of my aunt. She would always tell crazy stories about going on tour or working with artist’s I admired in the early 90’s and 2000’s. I would just drop everything or even quit my menial service industry jobs to go and work a festival or event in other states.

Over the last decade I’ve worked every single department at music festivals and other music events. I have also helped staff or source jobs for likeminded, passionate people who are just simply in love with the industry. Getting to this point in my career (even though it still feels like the very beginning) has not been easy. I have definitely learned valuable lessons in professionalism, trust, and how to balance personal and professional relationships.

The message of HoneycombCLTV is that you are not alone in your struggle. There is a healthy, understanding, healing space for you, where people will listen to your story and truly care.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sunday-Tuesday: I would take them on a little camping trip where we would go hiking in Mt. Lemmon

Wednesday- We would head back into town for brunch at my favorite local central spot: Blue Willow and then walk around Fourth Ave to check out my favorite candle store Rustic Candle, & Gallery, Hippie Gypsy, and Celestial Rites.

Thursday- We would go see local DJ Pretty Slick at Congress and then pop across the street for Playdate Thursday’s with Alice.KM at PLAYGROUND in downtown Tucson. Probably stop for a drink at The Good Oak, which is my favorite hole in the wall, then head over to Empire for a slice of pizza.

Friday- We would head over to LaCo for some late lunch and then probably hit up one of my friends to get some matching tattoos. Afterwards we would head over to Charro Del Rey for dinner. Then see where the night takes us but most likely end up at either The Shelter or The Buffet.

Saturday- We would sleep in and then probably head over to MOCA Art Gallery after a quick stop at Karmello King for some classic Sonoran Dogs, Have more Southwest Seafood at El Barraco then head to my favorite local bar The Surly Wench for a night of 80’s dancing. I would probably have us leave early so we could watch a movie at home with my two cats Kimchi & Nori before sending them off the next morning.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout to my friends and family who have supported me and my passion for making this dream a reality. I would also like to thank the Dazed & Confused and The Electric Feel crew from way back when you have continued to support and inspired this entire process.
