We had the good fortune of connecting with Bella Renee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bella, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I wouldn’t say there was a specific moment where I decided to pursue this career, I definitely would say it chose me. I’ve always loved music and grew up singing and playing my piano so I always knew this is what I was supposed to be doing. There was a moment in my life where I decided to take things up a notch and pursue it professionally and really just go for it. That was back in 2018/2019, I decided to get my music professionally recorded and ever since that first studio session it’s been a non stop grind for me creating music. Then I reached our to Jason, my manager and he believed in my project so now I have a full team helping me towards my goals and it’s the life I always wanted to live.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an indie electronica artist. I think what sets me apart is the musical influences I had growing up and how I incorporate that into my songwriting and music production. As well as my life story and how I was shaped as a human being, my personal struggles built me to be who I am today and no one else can say they’ve experienced the exact same. We’re all so different and that’s what really sets us apart. I learned to play piano by ear at 12 years old on a broken piano. I think that has a lot to do with my sound and ideas. I also went to Berklee College of Music and being thrown into an atmosphere filled with people bursting of talent, and coming from a very small town was the best thing for me as an aspiring musician. I got so inspired to really be myself and let that stand out. Within a crowd of prodigies and insanely talented people I thought to myself “how can I stand out?” And every time I make music I ask myself how can these lyrics stand out? How can the production stand out? What I want the world to know about my project is that this is real. I am real and my music is too. My songs are all parts of my life, ideas I’ve loved, things I’ve written in my journals, words that made me feel something. I want to have the kind of music someone can find a home in. I’ve been working towards this career for my entire life. And now more than ever and I finding the right words to say in my songs that express who I am and how I think, how I love, how I feel. It’s awesome.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Omg I love this question. I would start out by taking them to Sunbar in Tempe for brunch on Saturday’s because they have live DJs playing there and you get a bottle of champagne for one penny with each entree. It’s such a great time going to Sunbar so it’s a MUST. If you like hiking I’d take you to Camelback, Echo Canyon is the hardest trail but it’s so rewarding at the end it feels like you’re on top of the world. Some amazing restaurants are Barrio Queen for the chips and salsa and margs. And their tacos are to die for. Kung Fu Ramen in Tempe is my favorite restaurant by far here. The spicy noodle ramen and (before I vent vegan) pork buns were my boyfriend and I’s favorite things to eat. Tempe town lake has paddle boarding and even just spending the day there for a picnic or going for a walk/run is so fun. A nice vegan restaurant is The Loving Hut their carrot cake is so good. There’s amazing Indian food here as well like theres something for everyone here.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh my gosh so many people. First off my mom and dad for always pushing me to pursue my dreams and never once made me think I couldn’t do it. My dad for passing down his musical abilities and passions. He’s a rockstar. My two brothers Ernesto and Leo for always supporting me. My family plays a huge role in this. Then I want to thank Halen Bouhadana for believing in my music, being the best partner/producer and songwriting buddy for my project, and pushing me to be the best version of my musician self. Then Jason Euler my manager, I just owe a lot of appreciation to this guy who believes in me so much and pushes me to be the best version of me outside music and inside the project as well. Always there for me when I need it and always working so hard every day to make things happen for me. Then Bre Olinger for being the best assistant manager ever. I also want to thank my supporters and friends for streaming and loving my music. 🙂
