We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Ann Kaib and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beth Ann, how do you think about risk?
To me, this is a two part answer. If you are in a state of comfort, you are not growing. Imagine yourself riding the flat escalator at the airport. If you look closely, most people are probably half asleep on their journey down the terminal. This is your life without risk. Yes you are moving forward, but are you really going anywhere? The same pattern and routine day in and day out. Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
Now picture yourself riding the escalator up to the second story at the mall. If you look around, people are alert and watching carefully for their landing point to take their next step. They just elevated their life! Well, not really, but you get the point. If you are living in a state of comfort, you are not growing. If you don’t take risks, you will remain in that mundane state of comfort until you do.
I took what most people consider a giant risk. After walking out of my toxic marriage, without steady income and after my daughter recovered from a series of 4 brain surgeries in twelve months, with doctors approval, I took my disabled daughter and our two dogs (picked up a kitten along the way to because, why not?) on a tour across the country in a travel trailer. We left Arizona, traveled up to North Dakota, East to Illinois, around to Michigan, through Canada and landed in New York for a month visiting family. We then took the Southern route back towards Arizona by way of a beach in Texas. I was on a mission to rebuild my relationship with my daughter and give her some inner strength by finding mine again. During this voyage I decided to start my business, Nomadic Cowgirl. Almost 3 years later, and I still believe that was the best decision I ever made for both of us.
Without that risk, I would not have found my passion of helping inspiring entrepreneurs build a solid foundation to turn their business dreams into reality. As I continue to build my business and attempt to inspire my kid to reach for the stars, we hope to hit the road again soon! I encourage you to think about the reward waiting for you on the other side of that risk and break out of your comfort zone. Not all risks need to be big. Best of luck to you!
What should our readers know about your business?
I help inspiring entrepreneurs turn their dream into reality by building a solid foundation to launch their business. Whether you need a website or help building your business from conception, I have them covered. I take my time to get to know the people I work with and establish a relationship with them. I invest my time into understanding their business and want to see them succeed. If I feel I am not the best fit, I will be the first person to tell them that. I find most entrepreneurs that are starting out don’t know what to ask. My job is to explain all of the options on the table and help them figure out what is the most advantageous option. Challenges, it wouldn’t be life without them. I NEVER give up! If I run out of ideas, I get more creative and tap into new resources. If I run out of energy, I check my lifestyle and ask for help. I find a way…Always. When I need more time? I have to make space to allow room for something new to enter my life. Sacrifices need to be made. Sometimes they hurt, but I can’t achieve my highest potential or help others achieve their dreams without it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
During a week long trip, they will know what they are in for and it’s all about the adventure! From Sky Harbor we can take a drive to Clarkdale to hop on the Verde Canyon train ride (not in coach though!). Next we can wander up to Jerome for a hauntingly good time with some history and art along the way. A scenic drive through Sedona while on our way to Bearizona. If my best friend is still hanging tough, we can blast some music and head on over to Oatman. Just be sure it’s on a day when the donkeys are expecting food. A day of relaxation at Lake Havasu followed by a beer at the Desert Bar on our way back to Sky Harbor!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without my daughter Hope, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Her courage opened my eyes to the reality I was trapped in. The struggles she has endured throughout her 19 years of life have always pushed me to be a better person, leader and role model. Though she has no idea of what lies ahead of us, she is always my rock, my side kick on any new adventure, and there to encourage me. I can’t imagine being on this journey of life without her.
