We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Skinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by challenging the normal. The moments in which we are most challenged can create some of the most beautiful images. Taking a concept and twisting it outside the normal expectations of society. Everyday can be an adventure if you make the most of it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am proud of how far I have come over the last couple of years. For 2020, I wanted to be published. I am now over 30+ publications including over 10 international publications. I have not decided what my 2021 goals are going to be. I have a few projects I am working on, I am extremely excited for how they are coming along. It has not been easy in the photography world because the market is so oversaturated. I have learned that my personality and my outside of the box range is what sets me apart. I shoot a wide range from Boudoir, High Fashion, Cosplay to weddings. I have found that modeling is a therapeutic outlet for many models. Valuing their time as much as I value mine has created many working friendships. Being a mother, has also helped me understand that when working with families, there is another level of care to give. My story is simple. I am a woman trying to show the world that everyday is a beautiful adventure.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For breakfast, a local mom & pop diner, Bread and Butter is one of the best ways to start the day. Reid Park zoo is one of Tucson’s nestled nicely in the center of town. A nice relaxing park. For lunch, a local favorite sandwhich shop, eegee’s, you can’t go wrong!! Their slushies and ranch fries are most beloved foods in the city. Next is a scenic drive around town to one of my favorite sunset spots. It can take 90 mins to get to the top, but Mt. Lemmon Windy point offer one amazing sunset view of the city. You can stop along the way to escape the desert heat and into the woods. To end the evening, the night light of Tucson would take you to 4th avenue. It is about 6 block stretching from downtown. Quite a few nights clubs and restaurants that range from country to hiphop. An amazing way to finish the day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I need to say I am a very lucky woman when it comes to my support group. I have my loving fiancé, Anthony, that while he can be stuck at home with our 3 children while I am on an adventure supports my photography. Without his help, I would never have been able to start photography to begin with. My children have been understanding about the long hours and weekends away. I also have the most amazing best friends that fuel and keep my artistic ideas in check and come to fruition. We go on adventures to find items for photography sets and Pinterest. We bounce ideas off each other day and night. Sometimes they accompany me on sets to assist with lighting, props, makeup, etc.
