We had the good fortune of connecting with Britaney Parks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britaney, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Wild Sage Healing is dedicated to creating a safe environment for healing, growth, and re-discovering your inner light. I believe this impacts the community because healed people heal others. It’s something that energetically perpetuates itself. I’m very passionate about healing as I have been through trauma and mental health issues. My healing journey of the last 10 years has led me to practice massage therapy, reiki healing, and teaching yoga.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Wild Sage Healing is about returning to you and reconnecting the mind and body. I see this business as an extension of myself and offer the highest quality of care in every session. I create relationships with my clients as this is anything but a transactional experience.
As a holistic massage practitioner, I see the body as a whole. Each system affects another. I feel that I am a space holder for your body to remember who you are under the chronic pain, injury, trauma etc.
I specialize in Acupressure massage, Thai massage, Reiki Healing, and Somatic Healing. I find that my practice is different than others because there is not a one-size-fits-all process for healing.
Each client is different, and how the body responds to holistic practices is also different. I direct my clients to tune in with what their bodies are saying. My sessions are client-led. I also work with the body to achieve results rather than just digging in and having your body respond by guarding against my touch.
We only heal where we feel safe. And if you are clenching or tensing up because my pressure is too deep, we are defeating the purpose of your being here for a massage.
In a session, your nervous system should be able to let go into rest and digest (which is the space you heal).
We spend most of our lives, especially these days in fight or flight or survival mode and to truly heal we have to allow the nervous system to downshift. I am intuitive and can tell the moment when the body “Let’s go”. It’s super fascinating and love the work I do!

No this road has not been easy but its been so worth it. Entrepreneurship is challenging because there is always something to do in the business. This is where good boundaries come into play. Taking specific days off, or not working past certain hours so you have family time is super important. You also get to wear so many hats as a solo -preneur. I am not just the person that creates the magic sessions but also does the booking, marketing, social media, and laundry. Lol. So i have learned a lot in the last 5 years in business and continue to grow and evolve.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have not explored as much as I like too as I have only been here for three months. I would take my best friend to Chop Shop as they have a lot of gluten-free and dairy-free menu options. I would also go to Saguaro Lake for the boat tour, and the Salt River for paddleboarding. And then take her up North to the mountains to Payson and Heber where the forests are and the temps are cooler.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people have been instrumental in my journey, so it’s hard to choose. My beautiful teachers at Nashville School of massage therapy, as they held space for me to learn this healing art. Dawn, Nancy, and Erin. Also, my lovely friend and colleague Courtney of The Zen Chameleon Portland Maine, as we are always bouncing business ideas off one another and helping each other grow. My Reiki Master Teacher Shae Jackson in Nashville for opening up the world of energy for me.
